Does anyone know if there is a way to get feedback to octoprint as that status just stays at 'printing' during the change?

I maybe misunderstanding your question, but surely thats exactly what your are trying to achieve ie Octoprint pauses until you tell it otherwise.

It's so I can trigger a notification or something that the filament needs changing

If you run Home Assistant, you could potentially achieve this. I've not tested it, but if the status changes somewhere (I'm thinking of the MQTT plugin) you'd be able to trigger a notification.

This is the problem. The status does not change...

I just reread your post, sorry I misunderstood. Look in Settings/GCode script. Perhaps either After print job is paused or Tool change. That will allow you to generate GCode. Marlin (and perhaps Prusa fork) will allow you to display a message on the LCD. Not sure about Octoprint client but I suspect there is a plugin for that.

why a title?

I've seen no way to do this. Marlin integrates into octoprint much nicer but prusa fw only in this last rc fw support the filament sensor. I really need to split the filament sensor and wire to the pi, this would work but not got around to it

Don't forget your Prusa runs a fork of Marlin.

If you monitor Octoprints GCode console what gcode does it see if you pause the printer?

RE:

Hey there, still have the issue that printing via Serial (Octoprint) (file is on Octoprint) ignores the filament sensor,

even tried with newest Beta FW 4.4.0Beta2 and Octoprint 1.8.2 today

What am i doing wrong?

Prusa Mini+ 4.4.0Beta2

connected via USB2 Port to Micro USB to

Raspi 4 (4GB RAM) with Octoprint 1.8.2

Printing works just fine with Octoprint no issues there but filament runout triggeres only via USB printing from the printer itself not via Serial/Octoprint

I have exactly the same problem.

Even newer firmware and octoprint. Filament run-out was ignored.

RE:

for me reinstalling Octoprint on the pi helped, now its running fine. Might be one of the reverse updates broke it.

Thank you Joan, you did the right thing. It has been a while since I have seen such behavior in a forum and I'm happy to see it is not tolerated. It's one thing to be on-topic and rough around the edges or harsh (or rude), but it is another thing to be off-topic + rude. I must say I was very surprised to see this sort of behavior. Like peacocks parading their plumage, some gentlemen have been engaged in a ballet of bravado.
@ter should be blocked completely for his last comment imho.
