Supports hanging unsported

Im trying to add supports to a print with a long overhang and it keeps adding extras on the side that are hanging. a support blocker does nothing to it. I know if i try and print it, it will just make a mess. anyone got any ideas on how to fix it?

Thanks

try setting the support angle to 45 deg and see what happens, failing that there could be something wrong with the original .stl

Normal people believe that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Engineers believe that if it ain’t broke, it doesn’t have enough features yet.

its only a simple model, did a fix in netfab and same result. When you say support angle do you mean overhang threshold? I  dont have a support angle option. Changing the overhang makes no difference.

No, in Print Settings / Support material / Pattern Angle (You have to be in Expert mode), set the 0 to 45 and see what the slicing looks like.

To be honest, you don't need to support that part of the print, it will print without requiring support, its once you go beyond 50 Degrees overhang that supports may start to be needed.

But without seeing the whole model, I can't really advise any better, any chance you can link or upload the .stl
