Slow printer for small layers
S3D has a setting to slow the printer for layers that require less than X seconds. It is good for small details at the tops of models. I don't see an equivalent setting in PS, but I'm hoping I'm missing something. Is there a similar setting somewhere?

It's under filament speed settings in PrusaSlicer.

For clarification. There are two important settings for this:
- Slow down if layer print time is below: This is a trigger when the slicer need to slow down
- Min print speed: How low can the slicer go with the speed.
15mm/s is pretty fast. S3D is going very low. I've seen even 3mm/s. Just play with this setting and you can do same thing like S3D

First of all its an Expert level setting so you must be in expert mode to see it.
Its then under Filament Settings>Cooling>Cooling Thresholds>Slow Down if Layer print time is below. Change that to something around 5 seconds.
The Min print speed is located below it.

Sorry to open an old thread, but this option is only available if the fan is running. I'm getting problems with the last part of an ABS print, which is very narrow at the top, and taking <1s per layer. I can't run the fan, because it's ABS, yet just adding a 5s wait between layers would fix my problem. Why does this option assume you're running a fan? Kind of rediculous really.

Set the fan to something stupid low like 1% and your fan wont even start up as the pwm wont be enough to get over the start threshold. Or set the disable fan for first XX layers to a layer height greater than your model, like 100000.

Yeah, I just figured it out. I can actually even be set to 0%. Quite powerful actually, rather than rediculous, just not entirely obvious.

Don't Slow down if layer print time is below XX approximate seconds and Min print speed work independently of fan speed?
According to the description, this combination will keep the fan at 0% but slow print speeds to stay above the minimum print time for each layer down to the minimum speed.

Bob you have to have the cooling turned on, if you untick the enable auto cooling then the layer speed settings get greyed out.

Yes, but it seems to work if you enable auto cooling with fan speeds set to 0. At least according to the description I highlighted.

I suspect Martymcflyuk is using a default ABS filament profile which has the auto cooling turned off by default. So as such none of that appears to 'work'.
I have seen so many people say such and such a setting doesn't work for them, when its usually down to some other setting they have set to zero or something unticked which makes settings grey out. I guess being a software tester I'm just constitutionally or maybe institutionally 🙂 programmed to click different things and try different settings to see what they do.

I don't print with ABS, but I just noticed Prusa seems to use 15% fan speeds with autocooling in their profiles.
I always click all the options!
