Slicer doesn't save settings with project?

Prusa slicer doesn't seem to save any settings changes you made when you save as a project? For example - I had a support enforcer set up. It saved the Generic box but reverted support settings to default without Generate support material enabled.

What version of the slicer are you using? I have not had any problems. I'm running the linux 2.1 version.

@stev-10

I noticed that too in alpha2, but was not sure if it was me that did something wrong. If it still persist in alpha4 you could report an error issue here: https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues

Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

geeze..... ver 2.5.0 win64 and this still doesn't work.  Save a user's settings configuration with a project, then save the project.  Open the project and the user configuration has returned to the default value of prusament.

As this works for most people I would say you have a problem with your install. If it didn’t save the selected profiles in the 3mf project file then it wouldn’t be possible for us to pass them around here for debugging like we do all the time.

Seems to me that there are two recurring problem areas, use of GPU and running on a Mac. Do either apply to you?

Possibly an install problem, but i just did a complete reinstall and same result.  Specifically, the problem of not saving the configuration happens if i just select a configuration and then save the project.  however, if i select the configuration and then (re)save the configuration and then save the project, it retains the configuration.  so on my system, it requires an intermediate resave of the configuration or the project save does not keep the configuration.   On your system you can just select a configuration and then save the project.... then reopen the project and that configuration was saved?

RE:

I can open Prusa Slicer, it will show the 3 profiles I had selected last time in the right hand side, so for example 0.2mm Quality @MK3 - Detached, Geared_Filaprint PLA, and Geared pinda heat_20221124 for the 3 profiles.  If I then change the filament in the dropdown to Geared_MKOEM Silk Silver and simply click on the close X in the top right it will then ask me if I want to save project Untitled.   If I choose no (which is normal) the software will shut down.

If I then restart Prusa Slicer the 3 profiles selected will be 0.2mm Quality @MK3 - Detached, Geared_MKOEM Silk Silver, and Geared pinda heat_20221124.  So it remembered what was selected before.

If I go into the print profile and say change the print temp from 215 to 210 and then close as well as asking if I want to save the project untitled it will also ask me if I want to save changes to the modified profile.  If I discard then the software closes.  Upon restarting the profiles are still 0.2mm Quality @MK3 - Detached, Geared_MKOEM Silk Silver, and Geared pinda heat_20221124 but it doesn't have the change in profile temp as I choose not to save the modified profile.

Prusa Slicer remembers the chosen profiles, not all the settings in them on opening/closing.  If you want other settings saving then you have to save as a project OR you have to save the actual profile.   Basically each profile stores a specific set of settings.  Each project stores the selected profiles, with all the modifications to the base profile, as well as any objects and modifiers etc.  Its a snapshot.  Prusa Slicer itself only remembers the last selected stored profiles on closing/opening.

This is how its easy to save combinations of print/filament/printer as well as changes to any other setting.  Just save as a project.  Then if you want those settings just open the project and everything is as loaded in from the project file.  So you can build up a library of default projects that suit whatever combinations you require.  Its designed this way on purpose.  Once you know the required workflow its quite simple.  SO you could for example save a project called PLA Speed, another for PETG quality etc etc.

To add to all that Neophyl mentioned,  you Also have several settings in, Configuration/Preferences/General Tab, that can affect how slicer presents these settings to you.

RE: Slicer doesn't save settings with project?

Sorry, i did not mean to hijack this old post...

I understand what you are saying, but it is not an issue of saving or using any settings in a configuration.  If i select a configuration and then slice, it will use the currently selected configuration settings as expected.

The issues is that-- if i select a configuration and then save the project, it does not save the selected configuration with the project. re-open the project and it still has the last associated configuration.

To save a different configuration with the project, i have to select and then re-save the configuration (even if no changes were made) and then save the project.  i.e., to save a configuration with the project, the unchanged configuration needs to be re-saved first.

perhaps it is something with this machine or installation, but it is a complete remove/reinstall

RE: Slicer doesn't save settings with project?

That is not normal and yours is the first instance I've ever heard of where that is happening.

Uninstalling the software does NOT remove any configuration data though.  So you would have to manually clear out ALL of that.
