PrusaSlicer no longer opens

Hello, all! I recently updated my PC to the latest Windows 10 build (version 1903, OS build 18362.267). Before the update, PrusaSlicer worked great. Post update though, it will not open. The hour glass appears next to the cursor momentarily after double clicking on the shortcut, the actual .exe file and running as administrator, but nothing happens. I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times. I have done a deep uninstall removing all traces of it from the registry and such and reinstalled it, but nothing seems to be working. Any insight on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated!

Other posts suggest it might be video related: Open-GL compatibility, etc.    But contact Prusa directly using CHAT and ask the experts.

I'm not on Windows 10, but had some issues with how the exe is handled ... I went into the installation folder and renamed the executable to remove the dash, then added shortcuts to the renamed file. Everything started working better. Still don't have file associations right, but the app works.

Prusa-Silcer.exe to PrusaSlicer.exe

Hmm. That doesn't seem to work, unfortunately.

I'm having the same issues as well.

I've tried a variety of Windows compatibility avenues. Running as administrator.  Running only on a fresh boot. I've tried renaming, as above. Nothing seems to work.

The program launches, and freezes before the print bed is rendered.  Do anything to the window (attempting to move it, resize it, click on "File", anything) causes Windows to say the program has stopped responding.

I didn't have an issue with the program before, but recently upgraded the computer.  The only thing that really isn't "standard" is that the system only has M2 drives (Solid State Drives).  My previous computer was running from a traditional platter drive.

Yeah that's odd too. I tried opening up Simplify3D as well and got the same results as Prusa Slicer. I guess the only thing to do at this point is backup my computer and do a clean install of Windows and try again.

@mikecody87

One thing I didn't specifically state:

Simply using Windows "Add/Remove Program" does nothing to the content in %AppData%.  You must manually remove that content.
I specifically tested that out, and learned that lesson.

Ah yes. I was using Revo to clean uninstall everything but still wasn't working. @tim-m30 pointed me in the right direction and everything started working again after updating my video drivers.

[REPOST]

Just reposting so this guy will get the ping...

The issue, if it's the same as me, is in the INI file in APPDATA/ROAMING.  If the program closes on a non-pirmary monitor, it writes a bad address to restart the window in.  Simply deleting the INI or editing the INI and deleting the line ( window_mainframe = 465; 30; 1455; 1020; 0 ), it should start right.

Hope it helps

We tested that scenario, it shall work. I will ask our tester to re-test it.

You may want to check https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues/2522

The "Nahimic" driver that some manufacturers bundle with their laptops or motherboards seem to cause that issue. I am afraid we cannot do anything about it.
