PrusaSlicer for third party custom SLA?

I was recommended to use PrusaSlicer for my AnyCubic Photon, but when I went to add it as a custom printer, the only options there were for FDM printers, not for SLA. So I went with it, but when I imported my model, every change I make I'm told that the first layer height can't be greater than the nozzle diameter. I also can't find ANY options for supports, neither auto-generated nor manually placed (which is what they specifically recommended PS for), so I'm at a COMPLETE loss here.

Honestly, this close to just uninstalling and going back to Z-Suite.

I know this is an old post, and you likely have already found out. If you install the latest version, you can select the Prusa SL1 as a printer. Once selected on the right you will have access to the SLA tools. You can add supports, hollow and drill. You can also right click on the model and select Optimize Orientation. Since PrusaSlicer will not export the correct file format for your printer, you need to save project with supports as STL. Then you can import the STL into ChiTuBox, slice, and export to the file format you need for your printer. Roundabout way, but at least it speeds-up the process overall.

The Prusa SL1 is the only SLA printer supported through the Wizard and you can't set up a custom SLA printer for other brands. Prusa outputs files in SL1 format, which is not compatible with other SLA printers on the market like Elegoo, Anycubic, Phrozen, Formlabs, Peopoly, etc. Since most SLA printers can't read SL1 files, you can't use PrusaSlicer for SLA printers in general, only the Prusa SL1.

Just use AnycubicSlicer or ChiTuBox to prepare and slice your models and you'll be fine.

RE:
The easiest and fastest way to add a custom profile is to open
UVtools. Go to "Help" -> "Install profiles into PrusaSlicer", select
your printer and restart PrusaSlicer to see the new profiles.

This way you can slice the model, save it from PrusaSlicer and then
open and fine tune it through UVtools to fix any possible error.
UVtools will let you save the file in a compatible format.

I always check errors on UVtools before printing anything, so having
to go through it to get a compatible exported file doesn't bother me
at all.

UPDATE:
I've been playing around with this a little more. Turns out you can
customize pretty much anything.

The setup process I explained above is detailed here:

And finally, you can tweak the settings from UVtools if you add Notes
to either the printer, or the material by using keywords, which then
UVtools interprets when it saves the final file:

All details explained there.

* Note: This post is the first result when searching how to add custom
profiles for different printers and the answers are not valid anymore.
I created the account just to document this cause I found it by pure
luck and it's a huge time saver.

RE: PrusaSlicer for third party custom SLA?

Thank you, I sent you the details.

Would a new topic with a tutorial on how to use it be helpful? Cause I can create one and go into details on how to properly set it up, together with some extra settings.

I'm currently using PrusaSlicer with an Elegoo Mars (the first version!) modded with a 4k screen and some anycubic water washable resin I had as a leftover from other project. So I can confirm PrusaSlicer can be used for any kind of printer+materials as long as you configure it properly. I'm even using advanced settings like the two-stage motion control to tune the speeds in the final exported file and the results so far have been great.

Regarding my tests:
The resin I'm using to test is like 2 years old, so I was kind of expecting failures or quality degradation, but I was kindly surprised. I did two prints totaling 12hs combined, and they both turned out great. The TMNT bust is small and very detailed, and a Terminator T-800 bust is large (the whole build plate) and both of them are looking great. I cleaned them poorly, and didn't mix the resin at all, so the gray color has a lot of white spots due to the white pigments producing sediment at the bottom of the vat. But they were successful at proving PrusaSlicer can do it! (which is what I wanted to test to begin with)

Hi,

Unfortunately I didn't receive your message...

An article on this subject may well help some of our users with NON Prusa resin machines.

RE:

It's in your email titled "prusa forum double posting", but since I added like 3 urls there (github and these forums), it must have landed under spam or something.

Don't worry, we can leave the messages as-is and I'll create a detailed post over the weekend for non-Prusa resin machines.

Thanks!
