Problems on first centimeters of print, how to improve?

Hi,

I usually print with a Brim, and once I survived the begin of a print it hardly ever fails. But the first centimeters are very critical. When starting the Brim, or any other new structure from scratch, for example the material tower on MMU2S prints, it is often that the first 5-10mm of filament does not stick well. And in the second round the head picks up that tiny imperfection, with a high chance to rip off the whole printed filament from the bed.

I feel the slicer could do a much better job....how about starting a few cm away from the Brim, maybe slower, and if then a bit filament rolls up the head will never touch this place again. As I wrote, after a few centimeters its all fine, its really the first 10mm regularly ruining my print. I have to say that I print in a high humidity environment, no choice, tropical region. Is there a way to improve the starting point, either manually or with settings?

What does  your gcode script look like? Just before print starts.

Type of sheet? PEI or Powder Coated?   When was the last time you used paper towels, soap and hot water to thoroughly scrub and clean the sheet?

Power Coated....ok I made a few changes, works much better now! The sheet was brand new, but after washing it with dishwasher it feels more sticky. I also disabled the skirt, saw no point in printing this potential point of failure...if I have any serious calibration issues I will anyhow notice it fast when starting the brim. And I now do a 2 minutes pre-heat, not sure if that has really an effect, but I thought the temperature sensor is on the PCB and not on the sheet, a pre-heat may result in a more even reliable heat distribution in the sheet. Now even with green filament it looks much better - the stickiness seems to slightly vary with the filament too, for example I use black one, that sticks like superglue 🙂
