Modifier creates unwanted divisions in top- and bottom layers

Hi,

I have used Modifiers to locally increase the infill% near screw holes. But I am left with top- and bottom layers becoming non-continuous.
(see attached images). I am a bit scared it will impair overall strength. Is there any way to prevent this? I can imagine placing the  modifier cube a few mm from the bottom and top layers might do the trick, but that seems a hassle.

Thanks!

I wouldn't increase the infill with a modifier for a screw hole.

What I would do is drop a Cylinder modifier on the screw hole and then increase the perimeters from what looks like 2 to 4 or 5.

@richard-l

Thanks!

That indeed was/is my first improvement for strength, however, when you have low infill% you still run the risk that these strengtheneth walls of your screw hole are hardly connected to the infill.

You have to adjust the modifier so that it doesnt intersect the top or bottom layers to get it to work without it casing that problem.  Which is a right pain admittedly.

Not to take away from anything being discussed, but earlier versions of Slic3rPE operated as expected:

I just ran into this myself: a pain.  Things work, then they don't.
