MK3S PrusaSlicer PLA and PETG Settings

Hey, I hope anyone can give me an answer.

Is it somehow possible to tell the printer or Prusa Slicer the adjustment for the different filaments?

I mean I got a Z-setting of -0.8 for PETG and when I want to print PLA I have to manual adjust this setting to -0.9 or is there an easier way?

There is an older thread here:

Easiest seems still to be to to make a separate printer profile for PLA and PETG with z offset set differently. that will work directly in the slicer.

Or you can use the sheet menu on the printer screen menu, and make a preset for PLA and PETG on your type of sheet. You can have 6 presets here as I remember. Very quick to change your preset from the menu, and each have a different live Z

Makes me wonder why you need different z offsets based on material.
I mean, the nozzle height over the build plate don't change when you change material, so i wonder if you are trying to compensate for a completely different problem.

I don't personally. I've found that calibrating the extrusion multiplier for each filament has resolved most of the related issues. I may tweak Live-Z as I observe the first layer, but that's about it. Most of the time, I don't bother.

@bobstro

makes sense to have to adjust extrusion multiplier based on material yes. i assumed it was the offset (z offset under printer settings) to make first layer thicker or smaller based on material.

for me once i have the first layer height dialed in via live z adjust it works well for both pla and petg.
