Make change to all profiles - turn Verbose G-code on on every profile - in one place

Is there an easy way to change an option like "Verbose G-code" in ever file by changing this in one place?  In other words, is it possible to have a master file like C:\Program Files\Prusa3D\PrusaSlicer\resources\profiles\PrusaResearch.ini that has a base profile that everything else inherits from?  I don't think I want to change that file itself as I assume it will be overwritten any time I upgrade.

Unfortunately, no. To make any changes to the default profile settings, you have to create custom profiles. For that setting, you need to create a custom Print Settings profile. A lot has changed with profiles in PrusaSlicer and everything is still under heavy development. To suggest changes to PrusaSlicer, it's best to submit a feature request on the Prusa Github pages

Meanwhile, the easiest way to maintain a collection of custom profiles with modifications like this is to create a config bundle with customized profiles. Right now, unfortunately, it's a hand-editing exercise, but not overly difficult. I've got my working set available here if you'd care to take a look. Notice that I've enabled the gcode_comments setting that corresponds to verbose gcode in my baseline profile, and all the sub-profiles inherit from that. Be aware that once imported, all links between base profiles and inherited profiles are lost. Also be aware that you can only inherit from profiles in the same bundle (.ini) file.
