Issues with installing PrusaSlicer 2.2.0

I feel this must be obvious and I'm missing something very basic, but I can't seem to 'replace' my previous version  (2.2.1) with the new one, and I definitely don't want to do anything drastic that might loose some important profiles.

I am running  Windows 10 and have downloaded & unzipped the files. From my 'Downloads' folder, 2.2.0 opens & runs fine. But when I replaces the .exe file in my 'Program Files' folder and try to run, the old 2.1.1 version opens. I am tempted to move & replace all the downloaded files to the Program Files location but I am nervous that doing so would override my profiles and the settings for my second, whacky printer.

I can't find any instructions for the correct procedure, and I can't remember having this problem previously.

If you are worried about your profiles open up 2.1.1 and export a config bundle.  That will save all your custom profiles for print, filament and printers. It can then be imported in later to any of the versions.   However when it comes to profiles alpha releases have their own location, betas have a second location and RC and full releases use the normal location. So 2.1.1 and 2.2.0 will use the same profiles but 2.2.0 alpha 5 will use its own for example.

not sure about properly installing but you can just create a shortcut to the exe file in your unzipped folder and run it as normal. You can run multiple versions that way and swop between them.
