Vat leaking?

I noticed resin under my vat on top of the LCD screen.

Did anyone else have this? I guess my FEP foil has a hole?

Did you try the water test after you installed the FEP film?

RE: Vat leaking?

I have had my vat leak from time to time. Thinner resins especially. I saw this video:

Prusa MK3 preassembled (R2/B6) > (R3/B/7)
Prusa MK2.5 kit > MK3 > MK3+MMU2 (R3/B/7) 😀

cant edit or delete post above

I have had my vat leak also. Thinner resins especially. Cant get to the bottom of the issue. I saw this video:

He thinks its the vat design prusa is using. Gonna give it a try.

Also on faccebook there's a user placing a 100mm x 1mm think rubber between vat and metal bracket, gonna try that too.

let me know if any of those help.

RE: Vat leaking?

Of course you need to make sure there are no holes or other issues going on, but if not then it is Prusa's fault and not yours.

Prusa uses a terrible design for their tanks where the sealing surface is not smooth and thus does not create a good seal. This allows a capillary action to occur where resin gets wicked past the sealing surface and ultimately find it's way out and onto the LCD. In the face of Prusa denying this is an issue and going so far as to claim toxic liquid spills are "acceptable" we found a solution of using a 100x1mm nitrile o-ring to create the seal that the tank is missing. You can see the details here: https://forum.prusaprinters.org/forum/original-prusa-sl1-assembly-and-first-prints-troubleshooting/resin-leaks-between-tank-and-frame/

Prusa did finally acknowledge that resin leaks are not acceptable and say they were going to look at their tank design, but it took way too much pressure and time for them to get to that point.

MMU tips and troubleshooting
Stop SL1 tank leaks with a simple o-ring...
