SL1 Hose Adapter

Prusa made a 40mm hose adapter for the SL1 fume vent.  Very nice.  I printed one already for when my Sl1 arrives. 🙂

Edit: The forum does not allow me to upload the STL, but you can request it or .gcode from support.

RE: SL1 Hose Adapter

Cool. Let us know how it works! I currently have my SL1 in a wide open area with no place to vent to, else I'd try it too.

Hi MKaxwell,
If you ZIP the STL, you can use the attach file option to post the Zip file!

RE: SL1 Hose Adapter

My SL1 is now up and running thanks to a replacement fan. I have not yet made a successful print because the first layer has not adhered to the metal, so I will recalibrate. If a layer forms at all, as it did, then there was resin between the metal and the FEP, suggesting that I need to move the tank higher. However all testing has to stop, as the smell was unacceptable to my wife, and so I need to move the printer down from an unused back bedroom to a workshop, which requires purchasing a stand. If I put it there, it will be a foot or two from an 8 inch dryer vent to the outside, which I can probably tap into, but the 4 inch pipe will need a one way valve to prevent back flow . I’m asking for  suggestions .

RE: SL1 Hose Adapter

@henry-c I found a couple one way valves to print on thingiverse. [Here]( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:62728 ) is one that looked the most promising.

personally I have just learned to ignore the smell of resin, though it is extremely strong and pungent. I run a large AC beside me that pumps air out so that helps a lot. Hopefully that valve works out for you.

Now for first layer adhesion, a problem might be a dirty FEP film or build plate. I always clean the build plate with IPA before a print, and wash the basin in soap and water after a bottle of resin is used up. I found that it wastes too much resin to wash the basin every print. If the plate is already clean, you might have a loose set screw on the print arm or the black knob might not be tight enough. For me the knob cuts a very shallow ring into the top of the build plate.

Another problem might be your angle zero. The level calibration was a bit tricky for me since the angle changes were so small. I had to use a magnifying glass to check the cracks on either side of the moving base. Is the UV lamp making a nice and crisp Prusa logo during the UV test? Is the peeling of the basin smooth or do you see any jerkiness of the movement? If I remember correctly from your other post you already reflashed the firmware, so that can't be it. If all else fails, some have reported that very lightly sanding the build platform helps with adhesion.

I'd be interested if you keep us updated.

RE: SL1 Hose Adapter

Thanks for a lot to think about.  the hose I am patching into is not 8 inch, but just 4, I  misremembered. 4 inch duct is enormous, I am thinking of smaller hose, like from a portable vacuum cleaner, and I will design the adapters and check valve and do them on my Mk3.  I will follow your approach, I think it most likely it is the zero calibration. I also have the mark from the knob. movement seems smooth and silent, and the exposure screen image seems very sharp. It will unfortunately be a little while before I can tackle the problems.
