Firmware Update Failure 1.3.0 -> any update

I recently received my Prusa SL1 and completed the calibration and then moved on to updating firmware.  It shipped with 1.2.3 and I updated to 1.3.0 via USB and am not able to update to any others.  I get the "Update Failed" error message.

Here is a link to the log file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/pzidjkfrb12c7mt/log.CZPX4919X009XC02885.2021-01-16_22-13-40.txt.xz?dl=0

Any help is appreciated.

I would post this one on the GitHUB: https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware-SL1

I had the same problem going to the latest update. However, I loaded the updates from the 'older versions page' dont include the latest version, 1.4.2 new certificate..

I put all these files on USB stick and updated in stages. 1.3.0 then 1.4.1 and lastly 1.4.2 which worked. The 1.4.2 new certificate file produces error on my machine.

All best

Steve

RE: Firmware Update Failure 1.3.0 -> any update

Hi all,

Has this been solved? We are facing the same issue. Upgraded from 1.2.2 to 1.3.0 via USB. From thereon, none of the updates works. Tried everything from 1.3.2 to 1.4.3. Used different USB drives. Downloaded from both the Prusa page, and the Github page. Kind of stuck now on how to continue.

Best,

Friso

have you tried to update one version at time?

i mean 1.3 -> 1.3.2 -> 1.3.3 -> and so on ?

I'm not an expert. Ma parlo anche italiano 😉

Firmware update 1.6.0 stuck on 'Set timezone'

Just tried updating the firmware on my SL1, but it fails when trying to set the region;

Pressing the green set button turns it momentarily red, but the it reverts back to green. This is also the case, when I turn the SL1 off and back on. Doesn’t matter which Region or City or select

I’ve also tried reverting to an earlier firmware version by downloading prusa3d_fw_1_4_0_SL1.raucb to the usb stick supplied with the SL1 and plugging it into the usb port at the front of the SL1, but the SL1 ignores it on next reboot

I didn't see the advice to update one version at a time until after went hunting for why this firmware update is stuck. There was certainly nothing in the 1.6.0 instructions about updating one version at a time. Anyway, its too late now as I can't flash any version

Any idea how to fix this?

Backup firmware

Tomas at Prusa support was helpful and persisted until this problem was resolved. Thank you Tomas!

1) Replaced the CR1220 battery under the tape here on the top left side of the A64 main board. It should measure at least 3.2V when new

2) The printer model is determined by the present display, consequently the error message "Unknown printer model" pointed at a faulty LCD. It turned out my print display cable was not plugged in to the A64 main board properly, even though it had been printing properly up to this point. Refer this photo. I reseated this connector

3) With caution! revert to original firmware (in the second slot, using Prusa terminology):
    a) Turn your printer ON
    b) Once the touch display lights ON, turn OFF the printer immediately with the power ON/OFF button (from behind the printer)
    c) Repeat this step 3 times (Turned out I needed to power on the printer and then immediately press that button on the A64 board)
    d) Turn your printer ON after those 3 rounds, you should be able to activate the 2nd slot and enter into the menu
    e)Save the LOG file on the USB (and send it to Prusa support)

4) Subsequently, upgraded the firmware from V1.3.3 to V1.4.2 then 1.5.0 and finally 1.6.0. Strangely, it stopped generating an UNKNOWN PRINTER MODEL error

5) Checking for LCD failure, found that the Prusa logo was no longer displayed. Instead individual LEDs could be seen which demonstrates the LCD is no longer filtering light. ie the LCD has failed

6) Ordered SL1 to SL1S upgrade kit as it includes a replacement LCD. NB. Also ordered platform star, platform ring and CW1S FEP film to upgrade CW1 to CW1S

It took a month to determine the fault is a faulty LCD which caused the firmware upgrade to fail. I could have saved that time by running the LCD test back at the start. Its been almost a month since I ordered the upgrade kit and its not going to be shipped until October (next month)...
