CW1 Turntable Problem

For some weeks now, I have had problems with the turntable during the wash cycle. Sometimes the turntable will not start turning and sometimes it starts rotating and then after a few seconds stops. I don't think it is rubbing against the tank. The motor is trying to do something but something is stopping the rotation.

The problem is intermittent but getting worse.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Hi Alan,
Does the table rotate easily by hand?

if not have you ever spilled any wash liquid into the base of the CW1, Pure guess, could the bearings be contaminated ?

@joantabb

Joan

Thanks for that - the turntable does rotate by hand but not freely - I have just assumed that it is the resistance of the motor.

I haven't knowingly spilt any wash but I will now go and check the bearings.

Hi Alan,

simple lubrication may be enough!

Things are never simple. The tank had a dent in it when it arrived. I didn't think anything of it at the time. What seems to have happened is that the turntable has been hitting the tank and a black gooey substance has accumulated on the turntable and at one spot on the underside of the tank, close to the dent. I suspect that it is a mix of metal filings and resin.

The goo is not easy to remove so I have been soaking the turntable plate in IPA and will try again with a scotchbrite scourer.

The scourer has done the trick. However your suggestion is a good one. I might as well be prepared for it to happen again!

Thanks for all your help.

Try a little panel-beating. It wouldn't take much; Just a good whack on the inside. I suggest using a hammer to hit a lump of wood against the inside of the dent. The lump of wood should be long enough to be easily hit by the hammer.
