CW1, suggestion for next version.

I will use the SL1 via network and that is easy with webinterface both over ethernet or wireless, but the CW1 is only having an usb interface.

Just an idea, what if you add some form of wireless link between the CW1 and SL1 with something like bluetooth.
* Then SL1 can tell the CW1 the print properties of the lastest print and CW1 can auto select the profile for that.
* CW1 status can be seen via the SL1 web interface and maybe simple control.
* CW1 can download newest firmware via the SL1

That's a good idea. It might be easier to just make the CW1 have its own network connection, but a point to point from the SL1 might be cheaper? Not sure. Either way, I agree.

Very good idea! Using USB wouldn't require any changes to the hardware (I think), since the SL1 already has a usb port and most people have the two machines next to each other.

Some sort of cross-communication would be useful for me, after only a couple prints

RE: CW1, suggestion for next version.

Quite frankly, I wouldn't bother with the CW1. It is a 400$ machine when purchased as part of the bundle. The curing feature isn't terribly useful, as a curing lamp, rotary table, and enclosure are all inexpensive and easy to do yourself. Not to mention the fact that prints often cure best if done under water or otherwise done under conditions not easy to achieve with the space constraints of the CW1. There are also issues with run time. Want more than 10 minutes? You'll have to go in and rewrite the code yourself. (done it, not that hard, but pointlessly annoying) Meanwhile a lightswitch timer can be wired up to a power strip for 20$ and will run whatever you put on that strip (rotary table, curing light, and carbon filter) in unison for however long or short you want at just the press of a button.

Regarding the washing function, it is very much worse than an ultrasonic cleaner. I say this because, having bought a CW1, I ended up buying a commercial ultrasonic cleaner to clean up the prints AFTER the CW1 was finished with them. The CW1 doesn't do nearly as good a job. There is also a parts availability and cleaning issues. Some uncured resins form globules and cling to the impeller, especially if you prefer to clean with a cleaning fluid rather than a nasty solvent which embrittles parts. Want to get a new impeller, or just a spare? Too bad PRUSA WILL NOT SELL YOU ONE! Same goes for the tank lids, Prusa won't sell them. So you can have as many proprietary gastro pans as you like, but if you want to keep different washing solutions for different resins separate, too bad you can't get more impellers or lids. Meanwhile a commercial ultrasonic cleaner will work great, has a tank heater, and you can buy multiple of them for the price of a CW1. Oh, and handily, they have drain spigots on the side that empty from the bottom of their tanks so you can easily empty the cleaning fluid, or just drain off the most contaminated bottom of the tank and keep going. And they hold more/larger prints.

In short, while the CW1 had some clever ideas to it, I don't find myself using it very often. An agglomeration of other equipment, which can be had for the same or less than a new CW1, provides better results with more convenience and at a substantially higher throughput. If I could do it all again, I wouldn't buy a CW1 at all. :/
