If it helps, I posted a video for another thread (difficulty with tilt-speed check) that will let you see the motion and hear the sound I get:

I have the same humming when the tank tilts back into level.

Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

I am thoroughly impressed by construction quality and performance . This is my first test print after SL1 assembly and i was stunned at the detail. After it was washed and cured i must have examined it with a jewelers loop for an hour. I had high hopes / expectations and this initial print has by far exceeded them.

RE: Initial impressions

Beginning to use my new printer, I was missing a cover or lid for the tank.

It should be simple, protect the resin and display, easy to clean, block light and be operated with gloves on... I made this one - it can be found here:

John: your pictures aren't showing up for me.  It looks like they are hosted on Google but not getting through.  I'd love to see.  I agree, I love the detail and the smoothness: no visible lines.  This print is at 0.05mm, amazing:

Nope, still no pics.  If I inspect, I see this:

<img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/WH-gpV7PMU0DTfjest[...snip...]" alt="" width="300" height="400"> which looks like a legit link.

My guess is you don't have those google images marked for sharing. By default, only you can see the photos.  If you click this button on the image in google photoes, you can create a shareable link:

Might be easier just to drag the pictures onto the post, which uploads them to Prusa servers with less fuss.

@paul-m27

Just got ours put together last night.  Sadly, we're experiencing similar failures/questions.  The calibration that should go down and 'touch' the tank would make sense -- it would complete the circuit.  Getting close??  Color me skeptical about accuracy there -- which I think directly translates into problems.

We have had two attempts to print the test object (that apparently WAS built into the printer??  We have no such thing as the documented "Print | Samples" menu.  If we go to "Print" it wants an SD card).  Anyway, they both failed with nothing on the build plate (which was definitely clean).

We noticed two things:

1) resin level is not reported accurately.  We filled resin to exactly to the 70%  mark.  When the print starts, it reports 60% resin.  Hmmm, maybe that's ok but makes me nervous.

2) When I go to the menus to move the resin tank Up or Down, it actually backtracks a bit.  What I mean is that as I go up, up, up, it reaches a point just before the end where it backs down a bit.  This makes me think the connecting rod alignment is off on the motor so I'm gonna take things apart and look at that again -- wondering if you had any issues there.

3) This is clearly a problem: I noticed after two failed prints (yes, redid initial setup and calibration between them) that the build plate is NOT parallel to the resin in the resin tank.  This is clearly not good.  Thing is, the calibration that has us tilt the tank up until it is level across the machine was definitely done correctly (and even if we were off by 0.001, the difference I'm seeing comparing the resin 'level' to the build plate 'level' is way more).  Related to number 2?
