Hello! I'm not sure where to put this, my apologies if this is the wrong subforum. 

We're going to be putting two MK3S+MMU2S printers in a fire cabinet. The idea is to let them run unattended on long print jobs. I've been trying to come up with a filament management system for a small enclosed space, but I'm having some trouble. Both printers will be using two colors. I have a prototype of this box system (Like this: ), however, after a while the filament gets really loose on the spools and starts tangling up in there, which has caused several jams. The "buffer" from prusa had been causing a lot of resistance given all the bends in the tubing coming in and out of it, but I'm willing to try again if anyone thinks it could help.  One coworker suggested making something to apply tension to the spool, but I'm thinking that might just pull the filament out of the printer. I'm printing filament clips next, but so much filament has been getting pushed back that the spools are losing a ton of tension and the filament's just been coming off the sides of the spool when it gets too loose, which makes it tangle around the rod in the box. I don't know that clips will help with that, but it seems worth trying.

Any ideas are appreciated. Everything, filament, spools, tubing, etc, has to be INSIDE the cabinet. I can drill or cut the shelves inside the cabinet, but can't cut holes in the outer walls of the cabinet (defeats the purpose). I don't have the final cabinet dimensions yet.

use one of the many MMU Buffer designs, or

use one of the many respool / rewind mechanisms, or

CUT the PTFE Tube, just outside the filament case, so that when the printer is pulling the filament, the two ends of the PTFE either side of the cut, will butt up together and transfer the pull to the filament roll, BUT when the printer backfeeds the filament to change to another filament, the cut in the PTFE will open up, and prevent the filament back feeding into the cabinet.
