Stack multiple objects

I want to print multiple objects on top of each other. They are flat, so my idea was to tell PrusaSlicer to simply add a layer of PVA support material between the two.

I can't get that to work. No matter what I do, the slicer insists on running support material all around the edges of the lower objects. This is (a) nonsense, (b) wasteful, (c) slow as hell.

Any ideas?

… adding an object that's printed with PVA and which acts as a filler between the two doesn't work, because then I either won't get top+bottom infill where the gap is, or the slicer complains that there's an empty layer.

Are you saying you are using soluble PVA filament?  If so dont  use support and just print with a material change.

We are printing this as a small group in Colorado USA on our Mk3s's and other printers.  We do not have soluable support or MMU setup.

Can anyone here share the trick to making this stackable in Prusa slicer?  Thinking of raising second model up by .29 millimeter after since that's the layer heights we are at for this.  Maybe that would make a separation that we can peel apart.  How would I then get the second and remaining layers to drop back down .29 after it does the 1st layer of the second object to resume printing?  I just setup my Mk3s so I'm new to prusa.

Thanks a bunch,  Stay healthy!

Our team has sent out 600 units to various hospitals thus far 🙂

RE: Stack multiple objects

Hi Guys,

I am working on the same project and was also not able to get the stacks working with Puraslicer without supports. I ended up using Cura, Cura 4.5 has support for Prusa printers build in, and am now able to silce and print the stacks just fine.

Hope this helps.

Working  on this same thing for a group here in the uk, tried just printing with 0.3mm gap between objects. It works, but I need a separate support post to get slicer to generate the code, nd one surface of the stacked frames comes out stringy ...

Currently trying meshmixer generates supports between layers.

@lexmeister

Hi,

what did you do to get them to print, did you add something between the items?
