Unable to upload firmware to mmu2

When I try flashing firmware update mmu2 cannot be found.  Mmu2 has green light showing.  Any suggestions?

Have you disconnected the USB cable to your printer first?

Have you tried pressing the reset switch on the MMU2, after connecting the USB cable?

Have you tried pressing the Pinter Reset button?

Good Luck.

I have the same problem when trying to update my MMU firmware.

None of these tasks worked for me either:

  • Disconnected the USB cable to your printer first?
  • Pressing the reset switch on the MMU2, after connecting the USB cable?
  • Pressing the Pinter Reset button?

Try another USB cable. Mine failed too until I tried it with a Samsung USB cable to the MMU2 unit.

I tried 3 different cables with 5 different USB ports without success. No sequence of power up between devices seemed to have any impact. Any other actions I might be able to try?

@dwain-b

I assume that you have used the latest version of the PrusaSlicer for flashing?

I had the same problems with my old slow Windows PC (with driver problems) and for this reason I set up a Linux PC (Ubuntu 18.04) with PrusaSlicer. I use it to compile and flash the firmware.

Yes, I updated Slicer to "PrusaSlicer-2.2.0+win64-202003211145" and my MK3s with "prusa3d_fw_MK3S_3_9_0_3421" before attempting to update my MMU2. I have updated my MMU2 firmware previously, but this time nothing seems to work.

Hi Dwain,
have you tried resetting the printer firmware just before you flash the MMU?

the MMU and Printer get a bit cosy, after they finish initialisation...

I had a problem flashing an earlier MMU firmware  and eventually succeeded by resetting one of them, just before the update started... I think it was the printer I reset, but may have been the MMU... either way, it won't take long to try...
I don't have access to my MMU at the moment...

I know it's a stupid question but you are plugging the USB into the USB on the MMU and not the USB for the main board.
