New MMU2S not recognized

Hello -

Finally got my MMU2S built and connected and now it won't recognize on the printer or with the computer.  I have double checked the wiring and made sure that it is all in the correct color order.  The cable from the MMU is on top with the brown cable to the left (frame side) and the IR sensor is on the bottom with the white cable on the left (frame side).  The unit powers on with the printer but I'm not sure if the lights are supposed to come on or not.  All of the LED lights come on when the printer powers on.  I have flashed the printer to the most updated firmware, reinstalled Pursa Slicer and cannot flash the MMU since it is not recognized by the computer.  I am running Windows 10 and have tried 2 different cables.  The printer says MMU2 N/A.  Any suggestions, please and thank you.

Having a similar problem. Prusa Slicer says that the MMU2 firmware was installed, but no motor movement on boot. Lights flash, but no motors.

I have the same problem, too.

After assembling the MMU2s and updating my MK3 to MK3s I flashed both (MK3S firmware and MMU2 firmware).

the MMU2 gets voltage (green LED on), the motors of the MMU2 never moved one single step, when I try to load a filament via the MMU2-button in the middle.

But my MK3s tells me on the LCD-screen if I study the self-diagnostics: „MMU N/A“ (yes, „MMU“ and not „MMU2 N/A“).

Now I‘ll try to check whether I connected the two MMU2 cables correctly to the MK3s-rambo-PCB.

Does anybody have a hint for me...?

I have checked my cabling several times. I even replaced my F.I.N.D.A.. There is no light on the F.I.N.D.A. probe. And when I go to support on the LCD screen it shows that the F.I.N.D.A. is N/A. For me, I am thinking it could be either the sensor cable or the circuit board.

Sorry but that sounds like sarcasm. Your post was 15 days ago. Do you still have a problem? What have you tried since then?

It wasn't sarcasm, I planned to and did contact CHAT. After three chats, it looked like I had the cables plugged in incorrectly. I do not have the orange piece around the connector where the FINDA plugs in. I had it one pin to the left. After this correction still no MMU2 or FINDA available. Frustrated I have temporarily stepped aside. I don't know if having the cable plugged in incorrectly damaged any of the boards. Thinking about ordering a MMU2 board, the main board, another new FINDA, and sensor.

Will try Facebook MMU2 group first.

Sorry to hear that. Let PR replace the board or help you out. You should be still in the warranty window.

Thank you for the suggestion! I posted on Facebook. I will give that a couple of days to see if there are any other possible solutions before I contact Prusa again.

OP here - still working on the problem.  Accidentally broke a part in the printer when checking assembly and was trying to find another printer to make the part.

Would the IR sensor not working cause any of the issues?  Before the upgrade, the sensor seemed to have failed during a print and I had to start doing manual loads and unloads instead of being able to just push the filament in.  I never tried to get a replacement since it didn't bother me on the single filament system but if it needs to work to use the MMU2, I probably need to replace it.

I have the same issue, Prusa sent me a new MMU board, and the problem is the same MMU N/A, in my opinion is an Einsy Issue or Software issue, of course I test al cables several times, nothing happen.

Somebody could solve something?

Mine did turn out to be an MMU board. After spending some time on chat with the techs, they sent me a new one. Within about ten minutes of getting the new one installed, I was up and running a single filament print through the MMU.

I think one of the more important tests they had me perform was the voltage check to the board. I don't remember the numbers or steps but they were really good once I got on chat.

RE: New MMU2S not recognized

After talking to Tech Chat, I decided to buy both the Ensy board and the MMU2 board. I had connected a couple cables incorrectly and thought that board might be damaged as well as the MMU2 board (both passed warranty). I have it working as a mk3s, but have been nervous about attaching the MMU2 cable. After doing my run of Face Shields, I will address the MMU2 issue.

I should have asked about the board voltages. It would have been very helpful in troubleshooting.

Congratulations to you!

RE: New MMU2S not recognized

I'm having same problem, however CHAT was of no assistance.  12 days ago they said they would check with their MMU "Expert" and get back to me.

Nothing so far.  During the CHAT I sent pictures of the wiring which was said to be correct.  Have flashed both MMU3 and MK3s+ several times.

I have MMU set to ON in the settings, have no FINDA listed in the settings and support menu says MMU N/A.  SO now I've sat here for nearly two weeks with an inoperable printer.

Started my upgrade right after having finished a print so everything was working fine prior to working on it.
