MMU2S Filament 4 & 5 sometimes curl and miss the selector - suggestions?

In a midprint filament change, in either filament slot 4 or 5, I've had the filament feed past the bondtech gear and completely miss the selector, start curling up and eventually the print will stop due to error. I'll have to pull it out from the back, sometimes cut it, and then refeed and it'll be fine.
Just wondering if other people experience this, and perhaps there's something worn out or my tension screws for the MMU2 are too tight or too loose? Perhaps I should cut a longer PTFE tube for that filament to feed into?
I have replaced most of my PTFE tubes in the system with a slightly larger ID for less friction. The only other variable I have, is that filaments for 4 and 5 are not going through the buffer but placed on a higher shelf that feed directly into the MMU2s. I don't get any tangle issues.
