fast load cut short or skipped

I've noticed a problem which has just cropped up with my MMU2s.  Recently, the fast load portion of the loading step is frequently cut short or skipped entirely.  The slow loading portion seems to behave normally.  Obviously this results in much longer prints.

When it cuts it short, it could be at any point in the load; 10% in, 80% in, etc.

Has anyone noticed anything like this?  I am on the most recent stable firmware (never changed since first installation), and the issue has started recently.

I've seen it occasionally and it has usually accompanied weird sensor behaviour (e.g flickering readings). Might be good to check they are both functioning as expected and in the case of the FINDA, not full of filament dust/hair.

@vintagepc

Yes this was it!  FINDA was flickering.

Actually I wrote too soon.

The problem still persists.

There seems to be some weirdness in my current FINDA sensor that I'm having trouble tracking down.  The reading on the printer screen (under the "support" menu) seems out of sync with the actual FINDA value.

For example, just now, that reading was staying at 1, even through multiple load an unload operations.  the MMU2S must see some 0s, otherwise those unloads wouldn't work.  Other times it is stuck at 0.  But it seems to switch to a 1 right after the IR sensor is triggered.

Also my FINDA looks different from my PINDA and doesn't seem to have a red LED.  Is that possible?

Never mind; there is an LED.  It is very faint though (less bright than the one on the PINDA).  I can only see it with the light off.

There's a known issue with the support menu not updating in real-time and it can be a second or more out of date. Best is just to use the light on the sensor itself.

Yes I see that now.  It looks like it will be addressed somewhat in the new firmware (still in beta).

In the meantime, it looks like my fast-loading is still skipped intermittently for reasons I can't pin down.  It doesn't seem tied to sensor flickering after all---I was confused by the delay in the support menu readout.

At least its just slowing my prints.

Well, I just started having this problem for the first time.  I am about to start trying to troubleshoot the problem.

It's possible there was something interfering with the FINDA sensor.  I cleaned out the selector and cleared the extruder of any remaining filament.  Then I ran the first layer calibration for good measure.  I tried printing again and the tool changes were fast again and the first layer was going down much better than when I was having this issue.
