MMU2s Idler Barrel Removal

Hello,

My idler barrel / drum has cracked.  I need to remove, but it doesn't seem possible due to the way its assembled.  Any tips / tricks on how to remove the thing without destroying the housing in the process??  🙂

Prusa provided very good instructions on how to assemble it, but nothing on how to dissemble it for repair.  Mine was working, then the idler stopped homing correctly.  In trying to fix that problem, I cracked the idler.  My fault.  Need to get the blasted thing out so I can print another and repair the thing.

thanks!

Nevermind.  I figured it out.   Didn't realize there was a hole all the way through to push the pin out.

thanks anyway!

Remove the stepper motor from the idler.

On the end of the idler opposite the motor there is a M3x10 screw that keeps the 5x16  shaft in place. Remove it.

Now move the idler back and forth in the housing until you can get enough of the shaft out so that you can pull it out.

It may take some time / patience to get it out.
