Re: MM 2.0 MK2.5/MK3 does not work with MK2.5

By the way, Do you think it will work if I supply it with external PS?

It could. If you want to do that I would stay with the data cable which provide the 5V power for the atmega32u4 and leds, finda, etc. You could use a 24V psu for the drivers, as these are separated from the rest. See INPUT in the schematics.

But having an additional psu for that??? Another main plug, you have to switch it on and off. Don't know if it is worth it.

I just want to explore other options to make my soon to arrive MMU2.0 run on MK2.5. I badly needed it this month. Thank you for your reply.

Another option: You also could connect it via 12V to 24V boost converter or directly to the main PSU.

One more question. Any separate MMU2.0 assembly manual for MK2.5?

One more question. Any separate MMU2.0 assembly manual for MK2.5?

I think there will/must be an update/new version.

For MMU1 to MMU2 upgrade kit:
- MMU1 disassembly, as at least one NEMA will be reused
- separate d-shaft (as i guess they will not include the long shaft extruder motor in that kit)
- Coupler for extruder to d-shaft

For Mk2.5
- Power cable
- Data cable with y-split cable

Hi guys,
to answer your questions:

MMU1 to MMU2 - assembly guide in progress, you will need some parts from the MMU1 (namely the motors) and some extra parts compared to the "traditional" MMU2 kit (those are included).

MK2.5 MMU2 - assembly guide will be part of the MK3 MMU2, as the only difference is the power cable, everything else is the same.

Both should be out very very soon 😉

thanks for the update. Did you see my pull request https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/pull/1024 ? I think you also need a y-splitting data cable as the einsy has PJ5 on pin 9 of connector P3 but the miniRAMbo has the reset on that pin. Pressing team reset button on the mm-controller will not reset the einsy BUT it will reset the miniRAMbo. Also in the mk25/mk3 firmware defied software mmu restet will not work on a miniRAMbo as PJ5 of the atmega 2560 isn't connected there. At least these are my thoughts looking at the schematics of the einsy, miniRAMbo 1.3 and 1.0 versions.

Motors or motor? As mmu1 dual owners just got one extra motor and not 3 with the quad version.

Two motors, I'm aware of the dual-extruder MMU1 😉

Still need to wait for firmware for MK2.5? If need to wait for firmware, when can we download it?

Re: MM 2.0 MK2.5/MK3 does not work with MK2.5

Firmware 1.0.1 was released on Oct12. Is this the one solving the MK2.5 compatibility issue with MMU2.0?

It says:
Supported printers:
Original Prusa i3 MK3 Multi Material 2.0
Original Prusa i3 MK2.5 Multi Material 2.0

Re: MM 2.0 MK2.5/MK3 does not work with MK2.5

After waiting for very long 6 months for this MMU2.0, still need to wait for another weeks or maybe months in order to make this MMU2.0 to work on MK2.5. It’s quite disappointing that I never heard any warning that I will not work right a way on MK2.5. Last night, customer support told me that MK2.5 firmware for MMU2.0 is still under development which is quite surprising. I guess they didn’t even test MMU2.0 on MK2.5 prior to marketing. They should have pre-alerted the users that It can’t work on MK2.5 right away and declare no firmware available yet. If they only declared it, I should have upgraded to MK3 instead of MK2.5.

I needed MMU2.0 so badly that I’ll be forced to buy MK3.

Re: MM 2.0 MK2.5/MK3 does not work with MK2.5

I can bear the 6 months or even a year of wait due to high demand but additional weeks due to no firmware is totally unacceptable. They should have tested it on MK2.5 before marketing it in the first place.

Re: MM 2.0 MK2.5/MK3 does not work with MK2.5

Prusa definitely knew, they were just hoping to have it ready before it got to your door.... or not. they just wanted them out the door to prevent more "delays". I got a pallete 2 instead, it cost more but works on any machine, should be quicker (no retraction, switch filament, then reload) and i can splice all my end of spool ends together to make one big one. plus i'll have it before mk2.5 on MMU works probably so i can do my x-mas orders....

I wish they have option to upgrade from mk2.5 to mk3. I know it sounds ridiculous but I really regret upgrading to mk2.5 instead of mk3.

I should have pre-ordered when Palette 2 was around USD 399 and USD499. They will be shipping next week.
