Gap in my waste block
Hello
I´ve got the MMU2S running. Everything seems to work now except my waste block.
After each filament change the filament is not far enough in the nozzle so it takes a few tracks at the waste block until I´m getting some filament out of the nozzle.
How can I fix that?

It's normal to have some gaps — the filament change process can't feed the filament exactly to hit the nozzle, and a blob in the tower would be bad, so it errs on the side of missing some extrusion. But the perimeter of the tower should be complete and it shouldn't lack structural soundness due to this.
I don't know of a way to calibrate this presumed gears-to-nozzle length, but I'd be interested to hear if there is.

Ok you say it´s absolutely normal that I´m getting some empty tracks before the filament comes out of the nozzle?
There´s no smooth transision at anybody else?

Hi,
You can solve this problem in prusa slicer, select advanced or expert mode, go to Printer settings -->Single extruder MM setup, change the value in Extra loading distance: -25 by default, personally I set it to -20, but I suggest you to try different values to find the value that suits you best depending of the filament material and brand. My setup works fine for PETG.

Another question would be how to accelerate the whole filament change process? ...
Because there are a lot of thing I don´t understand. The filament comes very slowly and then always faster. That´s point 1
Why doesn´t it come in the same speed down to the bondtech?
Point 2 would be the waste block. Once a layer is done the nozzle comes to the waste block and will be slower and slower ... why?
Actually it should be possible to print a few tracks equally fast or not? ... on track is fast the next slower and so on... wastes a lot of time.

of course you could set it up to have no waste block on the buildplate and therefore no gaps in the waste block

Actually a very good idea. But at the end I will have saved some filament. I doubt that it will be very faster than a waste block. I understand the principle of it but I will kepp my waste tower 🙂

Hi,
The load unload speed seems to be driven by the firmware itself, with no possibility to change anything.
At a time I used "The Zero Beast" custom firmware, the load unload speed was much more faster.
Except for this you can tweak some values in Prusa slicer, go to Filament Settings --> Advanced (only appears in expert mode), but it will mostly affect the shape of the filament tip.
To answer the point 2, it's "the speed of the first cooling move and speed of the last cooling move" that manage this, by experience I stopped tweaking theses settings because it was a source of headache with no spectacular results.

It seems I´ve handled the beast and printed out very cute owls over night 🙂
- I´m just about to find out why sometimes I have a "wipe in infill" option and sometimes not
- And it´s very confusing for me to understand why I have load and unload values because actually the "old" filament won´t be unloaded. A "load value" is clear for me.... from black to white I need more white to load ... but "unload" ?! You can see slightly green in my yellow.

To reduce color bleeding you can adjust the purge volumes in Prusa slicer, go to purging volumes, advanced settings.
For example, when loading white after black you can easily increase the white purging volume to 280 and even more, the counterpart is more waste.
