Creating Multicolor prints

What software is used to create the color examples for the mmu2s?   

I was looking at simply color 3d to color mono prints but not sure its ever going to be released

any alternatives?

Are you looking for something like this?

You could also use Meshmixer:

Or use design software like Blender.
