Spent a full week trying to get this to work with no full prints to show for it.

I'm really struggling to like this MMU. It seems far, far too fussy. I calibrated the ir sensor carefully but sometimes it decides out of the blue to lose the calibration and slip. Filaments will switch out happily for 20 layers with perfect tips and then suddenly I will get three in a row that have long strings. What has changed? Nothing. I will get jams in loading and unloading the filament but the leds will sometimes be referring to the wrong filament loader. Once or twice it has loaded filament while the head was at a completely different parking spot. It just merrily spooled filament into the air. On two occasions it has printed a layer in the wrong color (presumably because  it confused about where the feeder was sitting again. Then it will start again and happily work for half of a print until suddenly it starts getting clogged all over again for no apparent reason.

I just have no confidence at all that this will ever work reliably.  Is there a better more stable firmware? Is there anything else I can do before I give up on multi colored prints?

Ok so I've had my first success. I had to nudge it along a few times. It would print happily for half the print with perfect tips and then suddenly get its knickers in a twist for no reason. I do think it would be useful if there were blades going in both directions so it could do a quick tidy in-between filament changes. I've had a few occasions where the filament get's pushed around the side of the loader as it moves to a new position. A quick snip might solve a lot of jams. It would also be useful to have leds that show you if the finda and ir probe are detecting filament. You could tell at a glance what the problem was.

But it's a relief to feel there is hope. Multicolor certainly does not feel like the kind or print you can leave happily and come back when it's finished. it seems to need a lot of adjustment and coaxing.
