MMU2S clicking - red led blinking

Hi all

After I had a good time with the MK3S I added the MMU2s to the printer. Everything went well.

After switching on, the MUU is clicking (maybe homeing) and the first position is green. The first time I was able to select manually the next position using the  switches on the MMU. After selecting all positions I did also a calibraion of Z and I checked Finda/Pinda and optical sensor manually.

Everything looked very good, load and unload from MK3 worked as well.

Now, after I tried to setup a print, the selector clicked again and did not move. The 5 led started blinking and no action is possible any more.

Since this happened once the MMU does not move any more. Very strange....

best
Rob

RE: MMU2S clicking - red led blinking

The first thing I would try is resetting the MMU (little button next to the USB port). Sometimes the MMU seems to just lose it's mind and a reset can help (even with a mid print issue that you can't otherwise figure out/resolve). Similarly I'm finding that while I almost never turned my MK3 off it seems I can only do maybe 5 MMU prints without power cycling the whole printer. Nothing will have changed, but it just starts having weird random problems. After the power cycle it will be fine again for a few prints.

Can you use the menu on the printer when it is in this state? If so, go to Support -> Sensor status and see what it is telling you for the IR sensor and see if it concurs with the presence or lack thereof of filament. A check the light on the FINDA (it's very dim so you might need to cup your hand around it). It should be on if there is no filament and off if it is there. If either are disagreeing with the true state you'll need to solve that issue.

Sensor issues are the most common problem and they can cause all kinds of strange issues that are seemingly unrelated.

Solved - RE: MMU2S clicking - red led blinking

Hi gnat

Thank you for the swift reply.
I started a complete check from scratch including a reset, guess what - FINDA.

Long story short, I have build the IKEA lack V2 and added a wooden plate below with wheels (to move the housing easily).
After I finished the setup I moved the printer because of clearing space.

I think (guessing), the movement of the housing impacted somehow the FINDA (maybe it was to exact positioned) and caused the trouble.
What really confused me was the MMU as such as the behavior was total out of controll.

So, I just started a print as single MMU print. ... working.

thx again.
Rob

Edit: what helped was the sensor info from the printer menu
