Help - new MMU2S to MK3s+

Hi

I thought my build had gone well - I followed the instructions as best I could but when I try to first use the MMU2S (load the filament) it isn't working. I have attached a video and some pictures of the problem - I would be grateful if anyone could help identify where I've gone wrong.

Thanks IMG_3526

That rattling noise comes from the homing of the idler. The MMU does that when you power on your printer and most of the time when it first loads a filament.

But it doesn't home at the right angle on your MMU.  It looks like some thing is blocking the idler to make its full move. When it homes the bearing for the first filament has to point straight down. With you printer powered off you should be able to move it easily to that position. The idler should turn around 225 degrees from stop to stop.

When I watch the video it homes with the 3rd bearing pointing down. That will mess up the homing and will fail all filament loads.

Looking at the angle I would guess that the pin for the 5th bearing isn't pushed in far enough. If that pin sticks out a little it will hit the idle body. I can't see the side of the idler in your pictures.

Hi

Thanks good spot  - I noticed that and pushed it in flush but unfortunately it has not made any difference.

If I assume the loud grinding / clicking noise is normal then the next issue is that the selector isn't moving or hasn't moved at all other than manually when I turn it. I wonder is the selector motor not working? When I select load filament from the lcd menu and choose any filament number, the MMU2S flashes 5 amber lights straight away and I have to reset. When I try to do it manually by pressing a button on the MMU2S then it clicks/grinds and the 5 flashing lights come on.

Thanks again

Paul

Have a look at the trouble shooting part in the handbook. 5 flashing leds means that the selector isn't going to move because there is filament detected by the FINDA sensor. You probably have the sensor adjusted wrong and it thinks there is filament in the selector when there is none.

I have linked to this video before as it explains how the MMU works and what you can do to fix errors.

Hi

I had read the bit about adjusting FINDA sensor with the flashing lights but had another look at it and discovered another screw from the cover sticking into the pinda shaft - I loosened that a bit and things started working OK. Now I just have to go through all the calibrations.

Thanks for the help.
