Perfect PRUSA i3 enclosure for only 79,- EUR

I’ve found the perfect enclosure for my Prusa i3 MK3 3D printer. It’s a cheap server wall mount cabinet for only 79,- EUR. You can find it on ebay or in different computer online shops. It has 4 mm safety glass and powder coated sheet metal walls. The roof and bottom have cable entries and the roof is also prepared for mounting 2 x single fans. That may come in handy if you want to build a fume exhaust for ABS printing. I pimped it with some RGB LED strip and hide the cables in the wire channels.

Won't that be a bit noisy? I'd be worried about lack of stability.

@bostro I would say its the same or a lil bit quieter when the glass door is closed. If you want it completely silent you have to cover the interior with foam but that was not my intention. I searched for a metal enclosure for safety reasons if something goes wrong in our lab.

On the photos it might look too long but stability is great because the enclosure is really lightweight. You could also put the whole enclosure on a standard desk without using the legs.

This is sick! Looks super easy and classy, I might go this route. Thanks for the post!

Edit:
Can you post some eBay links or search term? I’m from the US so I think ordering off eBay is going to be easier!

Thanks Michael,
here is a link to the german ebay. You can try to find it in ebay US by searching for "network rack wall mount" or something similar. They use the same product pictures.

Hi. On most of the enclosure builds the power supply has to be moved due to heat build up. Is this still something you would have to do in this case?
Thanks.

Hi Abdul,

no mod required at least for my location. I have constant 28°C when printing. Maybe in the summer it will be more but it if does not exceed 40°C I won't worry at all. Seems like the cable entries and fan vents are big enough to keep the temperature down.

Seems like I can't edit my post. I had to transfer my homepage to a different host. So the old link above does not work anymore.
Here is the updated link to my blog post about the enclosure:

Do you have a video of the printer working inside it, daniel.s120? I'd be interested to hear how loud it is inside.

I'm thinking about replacing my top LACK enclosure with this one - it's falling to bits, and doesn't wanna play fair. This one looks nice and moddable, and very nice.

Do you have a link to the exact cabinet you used? I tried finding it on the store you linked on your blog, but the images didn't match the ones you used?

Just wanted to pop in and say thank you Daniel for this tip.
I bought the rack too.
It's very flimsy so a solid base is much needed but when that is sorted it will be perfect.

Again, big thanks.
