MK3S+ better fan shroud ?

My December '20 MK3S+ is printing just fine, but I still not satisfied with the overhang the printer can print.
If I print a test print it is barely able to print 45 degrees overhang without issues.
Prusa support already sent me a new print fan but it doesn't seem to help.

I think it is related to the way the fan shroud blows; almost all of the wind comes from the front. I find it a very strange design.

I have searched for fan shroud updates and found multiple, but none for the MK3S+ with extra "slide-in" notch on the right side.
I would like to have the wind coming from around the nozzle, so also from the backside.

If someone has a pointer to a MK3S+ compatible fan shroud please let me know.

I think it is probably your shroud or slicer  settings.

For example the gcode of this model I can only get up to 45°.

I don't see anything wrong with the shroud. But I do know other people who printed the same stl get at least 60°.

Maybe something like that? The nozzle is cooled better on the side. If you have a CAD system, you would have to adapt the holder for the MK3S+.

Send me a link and the file and the name of the filament.   I will tray to maximize the filament settings.

I'm sorry, I forgot to include the link. Here it is: https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/3025-extreme-80deg-atom-3d-overhang-printed-on-a-prusa-/comments

I have this issue with multiple types of filament, for example Prusament PLA.

I do have Fusion 360 but I'm not that skilled. I can only do easy things. So I was hoping someone created a dedicated MK3S+ version.
Do you have any experience with the linked models?

@pathia

This model is widely used and I have also adapted it for my printer (MK3) with BMG extruder. In any case, the air distribution is good and I have no problems as you described, which also depends on the slicer settings (temperature, speed, filament type, etc.).

In that case I think I should use this ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4172720) one.
It is based off the version you linked but remixed for a MK3S and includes a new extruder cover so I think it should fit a MK3S+.

Thank you!

RE: MK3S+ better fan shroud ?

One thing I'd like to see, is a wider slot of the square nut. I've lost the nut some how, and it fit quite tight in the slot so that it broke the whole slot off the shroud, and I find the local nuts of that size and thread are about .3mm thicker yet and cannot be forced into the slot, so my MK3S+ is down for the count until such time as I make a pocket in alu for the nut, and use a CBN wheel to wear away the nut until it is only about 1.95mm thick. This is a problem for the 10 pack of nozzles I bought from prusa parts, and for the only printable replacement I found on thingiverse. If the nozzle could be redone as a .scad file, which could then be modified in OpenSCAD, this nut slot could be widened and possibly made stronger for printing in PETG it would be a major blessing.

I should mention in passing that I built this from the kit, but had instant freeze up in the heat break problems, with both PLA and  PETG and a titanium replacement has been a 100% end to that problem.

Cheers Gene
