Help/advice with FYSETC build sheet please?

Earlier this week I ordered a FYSETC replacement build sheet, see'n as how the original is apparently not available at the time. It came in a couple days ago but with such a busy business and social life, yeah right, I haven't touched it until this afternoon.

Anyway, on one side of it, there was this green tab, obviously screaming out "pull me off ", so I did, and wondered why it didn't have those on both sides. And no, what I pulled off came off easily and is plain old plastic, not print surface.

Then it dawned on me that one side of the sheet is bare metal and only one side actually has the coated print surface!

Is this the way it's supposed to be? One side only?

I tried a calibration on the one print side, and almost coincidentally, it prints best within maybe 20 clicks (-510) of my original still good side of the original sheet (-530).

Is this just the way FYSETC sheets come or what? Is there any downside to ordering a separate stick on build surface for the bare metal side? LOL, Last week I had 1 sheet with 2 good sides, now have 2 sheets with 1 good side each!

Oh well, thx in advance ...

RE:

Yes, thanks for the warning.

I fortunately have one barely-used Prusa smooth plate and the original with one good (but showing wear and tear) side and one with some patches torn off which I can still use for smaller prints, so I guess I can say that I have 1 3/4 plates.  😉

I'm sure that if you re-skin the bare metal side, your close Z calibration will change very significantly.

Sorry to hear the purchase experience of your fysect print sheet didn't go smoothly. If the print sheet was advertised as a double sided smooth pei print sheet then it sounds like you were sent a dud. Where did you buy it? If it was falsely advertised you can probably return it?

Just incase you aren't aware, print sheet thickness is interesting but fairly inconsequential as every sheets thickness value can be saved and then instantly selected as required from within the printers menu. As long as the metal sheet bends and springs back without deformation, and as long as the print surface works correctly the thickness can be noticeably different between manufacturers without cause for any concern.

Just out of interest, did you print anything after calibrating the nozzle height and did it perform ok?

I'm gonna keep it but still disappointed it only has one print surface.

Printed a number of things on it so far, first thing was that knob that was so troublesome, which I did this time using what's left of the silver-grey sample roll.

Prints just like the original, LOL, I still think I'm the only one in this whole universe who doesn't have problems sticking!

Just another data point here ..

My original plate is getting ratty, a few pulled-off spots on one side and some blemishes on the other side, so kind of on a whim I ordered a so-called factory-second plate just before the holidays.

It was here when we got back, arrived promptly from the Czech Republic, actually, and to be honest, I sure can't tell from a visual inspection that it's a factory second.

It looks almost identical to my 'gently used' factory-first plate which I ordered some time ago.

I guess I can say that I now have 2 3/4 smooth plates to use.  😉
