This looks promising.  I might have to try one.

RE: Bondtech LGX

I am wondering about the firmware.  Does it need its own firmware?

It says it is made for flexibility.  Is that all it works with?

Yes, it needs a changed firmware. They are fast wth the releases and very responive if questions come up.

No, it's not just for flexibles. It works with all standard filaments.

Because of the bigger gear wheels it's feeding flexbles much better than extruders with smaller wheels.
In my testing I printed Filaflex 60A without any issues at 50mm/s.

I think the performance is very promising, but I'm still evaluating with different filaments.

Printing with Extrudr Greentec Pro Carbon, Extrudr PetG, Fiberlogy FiberFlex 30D Black (50mm/s) since Friday, that extruder is awesome! Just to mention, I have instaequipped an Olsson Ruby and I'm not using the hardened nozzle shipped with the LGX set.

@Kai, good to know the 60A is running well, will see to push through some very soft tpe prototype material next weeks (if available hrhr) 🙂

TPU (about 95A) DAS FILAMENT, Nanovia Istroflex, Recreus Reciflex, Tianse TPU, Ninjatek Ninjaflex and the Filaflex 60A print all well up to 50mm/s.
Let's see if it's possible to speed that up a bit more 😉

Be careful with the 60A, you need to remove the filament sensor, since it's too soft to feed it through. And I had it once with a printing test that it went into the driving gear and blocked the extruder... so be nearby printing those soft things.

Another thing I noticed is that fast printing thinner walls with higher speed causes some shrinking that can kill your print. With that only slowing down will help.

Overhangs with more than 60% can be challenging, too.

But overall till now a massive imrpovement!

Do you have the stl files by any chance fir the mount. I bought the add on flexible for prusa thinking that would have the mount but it doesn't. And I figured 180 dollars is enough spent on this. Especially since the same week I bought the e3d hemera, the Dyze 500c hotend and another full slice cooperhead besides the one that comes with the lgx. Amd I've looked for a prusa mount for the lgx but can't find it besides on linear rails.

Nice find.  I am going to have to install this one of my MK3S printers.

Some clogging issues with the LGX FF, solved!

Just wanted to give an update:

After a lot of successful printing with TPU, I now have several prints to do in PLA.
And now it happened that I had a clogged heat break more or less every day.

Finally the airflow of the Nocta fan was the problem. I swapped the Noctua fan to a Sunon MF40100V1-1000C-G99 which is giving roundabout double the airflow.
With that the clogging issues are done! OK, now the printer is a bit louder, but still OK.
