Power panic + SD Card + Octoprint

I've seen versions of this question, but haven't seen a solid answer.

So simply put, if you use Octoprint, but upload to SD, will power panic work?  It's sacrificing some speed, but the benefit would be huge, imo.

What do you mean by "Use octoprint but upload to SD"?

My understanding is that octoprint sends the Gcode commands required to print in real time via USB, and this is why power panic doesn't work - because it's Prusa's firmware that enables this by reading from the locally installed SD Card.

I can't see how you could use Octoprint AND upload to SD, because everything that octoprint does for you, relies on it sending the Gcode commands via USB - enabling it to give you various data during the printing process in return.

@delarado

I think that answers my question then. I thought I could upload to SD and octopi could still manage the print.

RE: Power panic + SD Card + Octoprint

There is an "upload to SD" button in Octoprint.

I have read here that uploading to the sd card through Octoprint is really slow (a few minutes for a normal file)

But if that enables power panic for some that could be useful.

While typing this it occurred to me that this could maybe be the sd card in the raspberry pi. Maybe I will it when I have some time.
