Light Bars and Enclosure requirements

Hi everyone, totally noob here who just assembled mk3s less than 1 month ago.

1) I'm looking to light up my printing area with LED strips but I don't have a solder. My friend bought me this IKEA Ledberg strips (they connect up to 3 in 1 straight line). Any suggestion on what I can do?

2) Also, is there a need for an enclosure if I were to print PETG? I ordered a bunch of them and I would like to get ready for it if I need one.

3) Lastly, any recommended timelapse camera I can get for recording my prints? looks like a fun thing to do!

No enclosure is require for PETG. An enclosure can make PLA printing more difficult if you can't keep temps below 40C.

Look into Octoprint and specifically Octopi on an inexpensive Raspberry Pi 3 or 4. It is trivial to set up and use. You can use an inexpensive Webcam or on-board camera module for timelapses with the Octoprint plugin.

According to the IKEA website, those lights come with a transformer, it probably plugs into a regular AC wall socket. If you want to do without that, you're looking at figuring out the what voltage and current the LED lights need, cutting off the transformer, and wiring up a solution yourself.

An easier option might be a USB LED light strip. Especially if you setup a Raspberry Pi with Octoprint for the webcam, you'll have a spare USB port to power the USB LED lights. Then you can mount the lights with something like this: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2713519
