Re: Slic3r 1.34.1 - Prusa Edition (Beta)

Just curious. Did anyone from the Prusa Slic3r development team see the "supports printing in air" bug I reported above?

Just want to make sure it has been noted. If there is a different mechanism for reporting bugs, please let me know.

Thanks!

- Brad

Was the bug reported in the last beta thread in relation to 'scars' caused by the nozzle moving along the previous layer resolved?

Hi Brad,

did you notice an updated version with some bug fixes ? https://github.com/prusa3d/Slic3r/releases/tag/version_1.34.1.24

Maybe your bug is fixed now ?

Re: Slic3r 1.34.1 - Prusa Edition (Beta)

Hi, Christophe,

Thanks for the heads up.

I downloaded the latest packaged installer from www.prusa3d.com/drivers/ - v1.7.8.1 (May 23, 2017). It contains Silc3r v1.34.1. The bug still exists in this version.

Next, I downloaded the latest Slic3r PE from GitHub per Christophe's recommendation. The contents of the .zip file were dragged into the C:\Program Files\Prusa3D\Slic3rPE folder. This installed Silc3r PE v1.34.1.24.

I can confirm that v1.34.1.24 has fixed the bug!

Thanks, Christophe, and to the Prusa development team.

Anyone point me in the right direction to install the PE Slic3r into Octoprint? Thanks in advance

Hi John,

To run slic3r on RPi you need an arm binay version. However there is no ARM compiled version on the PR repository, so you'll need to compile it. I do not see any specific guide for the PR version, but this guideline may be a good starting point:
http://www.hoektronics.com/2013/05/05/compiling-slic3r-on-raspberry-pi/

In addition, on OctoPrint side, you'll probably need this plugin: http://plugins.octoprint.org/plugins/slic3r/

This is just my 2 cents, I never tried it and really prefer to use the GUI version.

Hello,

Could you try "Layer Editing" after adding stl object with 1.34.1.24 version (from prusa pack Mac version 1.7.8.2) ?
Because, after clicking it: slic3r quit automatically...

Slic3r works very fine with version 1.34 (from prusa pack Mac version 1.7.6)

Thanks

This is a known issue and it is specific to a maximum layer height value set to the default "0".

https://github.com/prusa3d/Slic3r/issues/315
https://github.com/prusa3d/Slic3r/issues/330
https://github.com/prusa3d/Slic3r/issues/331

It has been fixed already in the latest Slic3r 1.35.3 beta.

Re: Slic3r 1.34.1 - Prusa Edition (Beta)

Hi all,

Very much a novice here, but learning so much every day with each success, mistake, and reading posts on forums. Dare I add YouTube Videos to the list as well.

I just finished my build of a MK2s and wanted to use slic3r prusa ed. Confused on why I can not export a file my MK2S can read and print from.

1. I "add" the .stl file I downloaded from thingiverse
2. Check the setting for the print (layers, details, etc)
3. Slice it
4. Export .stl file to the SD card.

When I load it into the MK2S it does not see the .stl file, but it is there.
If I export it as a .gcode file my MK2S sees it, but when I try to print that file, nothing happens.

Any suggestions for a beginner with only 13hrs print time under my belt? I really want to try using this software because of ease of use, but not so easy for me for some reason.

Hi Robert,

When you slice the STL you need to EXPORT THE GCODE that is created from the slicing of the STL file. Copy the GCODE file to the SD card. You will now see the file on the printer.
