Y axis assembly problems

This build has been just a mess. I have hours into just the Y axis. Wrong parts in bags, instructions not that clear.
I am on step 24 and noticed the y axis has a little wobble to it. Is it supposed to sit completely flat?
no idea how to fix this. Not a mechanical type of person. Really regretting buying the kit.

Re: Y axis assembly problems

A certain amount of "wobble" for the bed isn't all that unusual. If i rattled my bed, it had a good amount of play. It won't matter in the end, other than noisy bed moves, which plagues alot of us,

Step 24, i assume from the MK2 build guide (the MK2S build guide has slightly different steps it seems) you said. Ok, here's a few pointers,
- the bearings should be turned in such a way that one of the 4 rows of balls inside sits straight on top the shaft.
- check if the zipties that press the bearings to the frame are reasonably tight (i.e. the bearings don't wobble)
- and finally, check if the 2 smooth rods are firmly seated all the way into the 4 corner slots.

PS: Don't let these little annoyances get to you. Even if you ordered the prebuilt one, there will be times where you need to start "optimizing", without the experience from building it from the ground up, this would be even more scary. You'll get there.

Re: Y axis assembly problems

If I interpret what you are saying correctly then you mean the 4 feet are not all touching down. If that's the case then watch the video in the MK2S build which will show you how to rectify this(very easy to do).

If you are talking about sloppy bearings on the shaft then not much you can do about this other than make sure they are orientated correctly as suggested by the other member.

Carry on with the build because you will have a better understanding of the machine for when you do need to carry out any maintenance.

You may find the videos of building the kit helpful.
