MAXTEMP error (bed/extruder not heating)

I just finished building the kit. After assembly, I powered it on to do the calibration and set the printer to preheat, but the bed and the head are not getting hot. The LED for the bed is also not lit. The fan for the head is on, and I am able to zero all axis. The screen reads a MAXTEMP error. The top temp fluctuates between 550-610/0, and the H temp hovers around 25/0. I have checked and rechecked my connections, but who knows...

Please help!!

Re: MAXTEMP error (bed/extruder not heating)

Hi Jason

Someone else had this quite recently; I can't remember exactly what the cause was. You could try a search of the forum, but I think it was a thermistor connection issue (wrong socket on RAMBo?).

Peter

P.S. Just found the original: http://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=345&p=2307&hilit=MAXTEMP#p2307

Check the insulation on the thermistor/heater block.

Mine seems like the same issue, but I'm unclear on what he did to fix the shorted thermistor...I also have a warped heat plate.

Jason

You very carefully remove the thermistor from the heater block, push the fibreglass tubing to the thermistor ends of the wires and again very carefully re-assemble.

Assembly instructions are here: http://wiki.e3d-online.com/wiki/E3D-Lite6_Assembly

Jason

This is something that I have done; it's not difficult. Just be very patient. The care will happen with patience.

If you have a multimeter, check each thermistor wire with each other AND the heater block. There should only be a reading between the two wires (I think it's 100KOhm).
