Geeetech Aluminum Prusa I3

Hello

I've noticed a cheap (£148) all aluminium printer on sale. I wondering if anyone has used one, and if so what do you think of it ?

It sounds like it could do with a couple of upgrades/mods but apart from them it seems very good for the price ?

ebay

YouTube review

Seems like a decent enough starter printer for the price, do you think ?

RE: Geeetech Aluminum Prusa I3

Hi RuthJoan

The ebay offer has ended.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2017-GEEETECH-Prusa-I3-Full-Aluminum-3D-Printer-Support-5-strong-frame-printer/332139855837?epid=26013435630&hash=item4d5513ffdd:g:wbwAAOSwGotWqHYu

this printer bears little resemblance to a modern Original Prusa i3 .

the controller board is  Pre Mk1 technology.
the Heatbed is like the Old Mk1 Prusa which I replaced about 4 years ago...
the Z lift screws are standard studding not proper lead screws, however they are a different size to the original prusa mk1.
the extruder is nothing like an original Prusa extruder. and there is no part cooling fan.

the Net result is that this printer  is completely different to anything supported by this site.    unless you are competent and self reliant, you will probably have difficulty with this product.

Regards Joan.

RE: Geeetech Aluminum Prusa I3

The only saving grace is that this printer seems to have a more substantial frame than Chinese clones with Plastic frames.

I have a Geeetech...  which has never worked well since I got it...

That looks to be only a bit less expensive than the Creality Ender 3 these days, and the Ender looks to be a far superior printer. Plenty of glowing reviews on YouTube etc. I'd recommend a Prusa over either, but I'd look towards the Ender if you're on a budget.
