Extruder Fan Wiring Error

Hi Everyone,

Due to me being an idiot I broke a fan blade off my extruder fan and got a replacement, this one to be exact https://spool3d.ca/12v-cooling-fan-ball-bearing-30mm-x-30mm/ . It had the same model number, but I did not realize the fan that came with my printer is 0.15A and this one is 0.1A. I hooked the new fan into my printer and I get a wiring error. During self test it will spin, but will pulse every few seconds, but if I turn on the hotend the fan turns on normally and seems to be fine. However the red light is on the board indicating a wiring issue. I checked all my wiring and even reversed the ground and power (which it does nothing at all). I am wondering why 50ma will cause a difference and if I hook it up, will it cause any long term damage other than the red light being on the rambo board. Thanks in advance.

Re: Extruder Fan Wiring Error

Firstly, you are not an idiot; many of us here have done exactly the same.

The LED on the RAMBo simply indicates the fan is turned on; not a wiring error. Nothing to worry about.

The difference in power should not be an issue, but if you start getting blockages you will have to swap it for the correct one.

You could try here: https://www.voxelfactory.com/ Those on the forums who have used this company are very happy with the service they have received from them.
