Using GlueOn Smoothe PEI Sheet - Printing PLA

Hello!

I'm struggling to make glue work for holding prints down to the smooth PEI sheet when printing PLA. It should be no rocket science but apparently it is for me. I'm using Elmers Purple Glue Stick and am applying a light coating. But what's happening is it appears that the glue is drying before the first line of print even occurs and it does not stick. I've even waited until right before it puts down the first line and then spread it down. No matter what I do it seems to have the opposite effect. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Bottom line: It is never necessary to use a glue stick when printing PLA on the smooth sheet.

My glue stick is still wrapped from my MK3S kit - and it will stay that way unless I try ABS.

That's what I'm gathering and for the most part I don't have an issue. I make sure the sheet is clean with 90+% alcohol. But every once and a while I have an issue. So it was suggested that I use a glue stick. I also am refocusing on my 1st layer calibration. I dropped it some and it's really making a difference on my Brims. I'm hoping that's the root of my problem.

I also had glue stick problems with ABS.

What will make the biggest difference, bar none, is scrub your build plate with unscented detergent (like Dawn),

Lots of water, and dry with a clean paper towel. Never touch the build area. And don't contaminate your IPA by letting anything touch the top of the bottle. Pour it. I put mine in a squeeze bottle.

For your first print or so after the scrub, don't use IPA.
