Last Support Layer

I am still stuck on a support issue; I communicated several times on the issue, but I don’t think I explained myself very well. I would like to try again.

Let me first start by saying my Z calibration on machine are excellent we are printing with awesome results on our new Prusa MK3S, it is the best machine we have ever purchased.

I have attached a video of what the last layer of my print in question. If you watch to the end you will see the last layer of the support is stingy (I show it going back into place where it printed). I have tried changing the Contact Z distance from the standard 0.1 to 0.05 and 0.03 but it does not appear to help. I have attached a couple of photos of my settings………………..

Ps. I have played with different patterns and pattern spacing with no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.Video Sep 27, 5 59 23 AM

RE: Last Support Layer

A photo of the part showing the issue is really the best way to ask for and receive good answers to your question.  Your description isn't telling me enough; and your video is corrupt, and a video isn't really useful in print quality problems.

In general, a supported structure will have round extrusions. So to expect a flat smooth surface on the underside of a part using supports is expecting too much.  You can reduce the effects, but never eliminate them unless you print using soluble supports with 0 interface.

ps: since you've only made one post here; where else have you been asking?

@tim-m30

Understood, but I have been printing this part with Cura on another printer with much much better results. I just do not know how to adjust the last layer height in Prus Slicer (latest version)....... I have tried adjusting the contact Z distance to 0.05 and adjusting the pattern spacing to 1 mm and using different patterns.

Any hints accepted........ and i have reached out to Prusa support but am awaiting reply

RE: Last Support Layer

Your description of any issue is, well, confusing.  So without seeing the problem, and that you say it works on another printer and slicer; my advice will be to use the other printer and slicer.

And you are asking about changing the last layer height. It is not at all clear why you'd want to do that, but you can do that a couple of ways: use variable layers, or use a modifier placed around the layer in question and set the layer height, or use Layers and Perimeters option in the part menu.
