Re: What's up with the filament sensor?

I think the sensor is having problems with shiny and translucent filaments especially green white and cream

changes have been mage in firmware, have you loaded the most up to date version?

regards Joan

I too have had problems with white filament but have not had any problems with a translucent blue PET-G (so far!).

The optical filament sensor seems to have trouble tracking some glossy filaments. Try disabling the sensor if having issues, it may solve the problem.

Hi Joan,

I think you are right as the reflective factor for PETG is greater than ABS so that may need to be worked on a bit. And it worked fine enabled on an ABS job I ran before.

It's a work in progress. And yes I am at the latest firmware revision, and the most recent software releases

On latest fw.
All my PLA filaments work fine, but the black PETG for some reason makes the filament sensor unhappy and I can't print for more than a few minutes if the sensor is enabled. This wasn't happening before they made the change.

Re: What's up with the filament sensor?

Im still having a few false positives with lighter colored filaments...

Its not triggering like crazy but enough to be annoying!

I'm using 3.1.2.... gotta try with 3.1.3 but since there was no mention of the sensor in the changes i dont know if its fixed or not.... In fact i dont know if this is really fixable... i think the sensor will always have trouble with some filaments.

Re: What's up with the filament sensor?

Hi Leonardo, I have just done a white benchy 0.15 layer height, took 2 hours 57 minutes. but I realised I hadn't reset the feed rate on the LCD, from the previous print...

absolutely no false triggers off the filament sensor!

this was in firmware 3.1.3

regards joan
