U.S. Source / replacement for MK3 print fan?

Has anyone found a U.S. source or replacement for the MK3 print fan? I know that Prusa offers them (I'm assuming they'll swap my dead one) but for a $6 item I hate to be down for a week during shipping.

Thanks.

The fan is a 3 wire. (NOT A TWO WIRE)

The best I found was from china for 15$... and expect 3+ weeks for delivery... LOL!!!

I messed up a part of my fan's wiring, and I'm planning on replacing it... thinking I'm gonna order, another part cooling fan, even though I plan on going for a totally different cooling solution. (forced air)

If you order it with say, a spool of filament or two. (I want a spool of Galaxy Black Prusament when released, and 2 spools of Prusa Orange PETG) I can get the fan for basically free shipping. 😉

It's a really "unusual" fan... kinda sad. 🙁

Hi, I'm Sean. I used to work on CNC machines.
I try to not make mistakes, but the decision is YOURS.
Please feel free to donate to my filament/maintance fund.

Re: U.S. Source / replacement for MK3 print fan?

hi there,

i don't know exactly if it's a 5v or a 12v fan.

here a 5v variant:
https://www.amazon.com/uxcell-Cooling-Sleeve-Bearing-Wires/dp/B077GKDMHL/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1522933839&sr=8-4

and here the 12v option:
https://www.amazon.com/uxcell-Cooling-Sleeve-Bearing-Wires/dp/B077GJQTRZ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1522933839&sr=8-1

sincerly yours

Thanks - From what I've gathered i's a 5v DC 50mm x 15mm three wire fan, although it has that special blower housing.

I'm guessing that the third wire is a sensor for the RPM monitor. So I assume that if I turn off fan monitoring I could run a 2 wire 5v fan. (Assuming I swap the plug to one that fits). Does that sound right? Or is the third wire a speed control?

I'm going to try one of these:

One thing to keep in mind is I believe the firmware for the MK3 leverages the fan signal wire on both the hotend and part cooling fan and without it you may get a print fan error message.

Thanks, you are correct but what I found when my fan was in the process of dying is that turning off the fan monitoring option in the Settings allowed it to run. Hoping the same would be true for a simple two wire fan.

If it dies, then Prusa will send you a new fan for free.
3 day delivery.

Mine recently only worked on the left third of the print bed. Did a chat on Saturday morning at 7. I had a fan when I got home Wednesday. I did manage to print out a few upgrades in the meantime.

Yes, if you turn off the fan monitoring you can use a regular PWM controlled fan.
