This is so awesome!

Okay guys, you hear a lot about problems and bad printing results and stuff like that. And some of you are still waiting for your own MK3. And some of you are starting to get nervous and wondering if it was a good idea to spend so much money on a printer that seems to have so many problems.

Now I want to tell you something. I received my kit 3 days ago and was only able to spend 1-2 hours a day assembling, but today I completed it and I'm thrilled to the max. I have absolutely no problems. Everything works as it should. The assembly went without major problems.

Not only is this printer incredibly quiet, no, it also prints in a quality I did not think was possible at the FFF.

Here are some pictures. I also used the caliper to get an idea of accuracy. Really impressive.

So do not worry. I have been waiting for 3 months now and was not disappointed.

Look at these sharp edges! The dimensions are nearly the same in x and y. It may vary by 0.02mm, but hey, hello ?! I did not calibrate that ... the printer does it all by itself. How cool is that?

This does nothing but add to the mythos building in my psyche of such a device that I'm still months away from getting. Excellent to see things went so smoothly.

Re: This is so awesome!

Totally agree with you michael !

I just finished the assembly without any problems and the first print is currently running and looks really great !

I wanted to make a topic as you did, just to congrats PRUSA team !!

I am a mechanical engineer and I already have one printer that I customised a lot, so I can say that they made a really really god Job !
The assembly was a real pleasure, especially the extruder which is a concentrate of intelligence. I am sure they worked hard to produce such a quality product at such a price.

And it is so quiet !

So as michael said, don't worry, you will love your Prusa MK3 !

YES i agree once you get it and put it together it works F**KING great.

I couldnt be happier with mine, Josef and his team have done a fantastic with the build quality of all the parts and delivery was super quick i live in Australia

I did at 1 stage did have a problem with some weird ass printing problem but that been solved with the firmware update.

So guys when you do get yours just update the firmware first might save some funny printing problems down the track.

I wont hesitate to buy from this team again.

JOSEF YOU ARE THE MAN!!!

Re: This is so awesome!

Just received my printer last night after UPS delayed my shipment due to "mechanical problems". Took me 8 hours to assemble. I made a couple mistakes along the way so that probably increased the time of assembly. But I powered on and my first print failed because I believe the filament got jammed. (The filament made noise while being fed, so was probably "sticking".) Started printing the "gear" as my second attempt and when it was finished it was absolutely beautiful. The quality is excellent, (imho, since I've never had a 3d printer so have no reference point), but everything was smooth, and the gears actually WORKED!!!!!
I am super impressed.
The instructions were confusing at times, but in general very well written. I used the on-line manual because I wanted to make sure I used the most recent instructions. Also, the comments that go along with some steps are very helpful to read. They clarify and help in the assembly.
Great product, great prints.
I am 100% satisfied.

Time for an update!

I did a 20 hour print of the Makerbot T-Rex skull in 0,15mm optimal layer height with supports, in Prusa Ivory PLA.
The parts turned out beautifully!
Excellent detail, with a few, minimal belmishes:
Despite the support strcutures, the overhang bridges show some small areas of rough surface, then there were a few tiny spots where the support was a little hard to remove, there are a few minimal layer lines, but I believe slicer related, and some very fine ringing.
Overall however, really, really good! And the ivory PLA looks perfect for that print. Enjoy!

Re: This is so awesome!

vertigo grey is sort of an exception, that filament is top notch and looks good in general on most printers. too bad it's only in PLA. a more heat resistant type would be nice. Proto-Pasta HTPLA is a close alternative though, one that's matte or gliterflake.

Re: This is so awesome!

I have to agree, I have had my up and running since Thursday, and other than one print it is perfect.

I do have to say the one print was due to settings not the printer, i used the pre-configured settings in prusa control to print a benchy in the higest resolution. this combined with being in stealth mode, which is slower, meant the filament got to hot so it had lots of stringing and the funnel was not pretty. Re-printing this in normal mode at 200°C nozzle it turned out great!

When I compare this to my previous printer the ease of use it the biggest difference, it just prints. the ordbot took some tweaking to get good prints but still after hours of tweaking didn't get as good as this!

Re: This is so awesome!

I still see for the most parts lots of ringing and banding - the vertigo grey hides some of the flaws (no offense to you guys intended at all) > I am not happy with the quality of my prints, I think there is a big issue with the printer and for the most part we are not getting any help or support on the matter. Better yet this should have been fixed from the beginning. My prints have the same bad ringing and banding and unless I slow it down to 60% or less via the LCD the prints come out bad or unusable.

So my question is anyone found a way to actually make this printer work like it was advertised? On the photos you guys posted did you slow it down or stock speeds? Firmware version? (i am running the RC5- which is funny in its own right to have a RC firmware on a "ready to go" machine) Have you guys seen all the issues with the STL files and misalignment? Watched how lose your Y-Axis motor is ue to the feeble mount? etc... No need to keep bitching I am sure you get the idea- but even people claiming how wonderful the MK3 is do not have prints I would consider good quality- myself included in that of course.

Is this from the printer you're looking to sell? How much do you want for it?

Re: This is so awesome!

Yes it is from the MK3- all the red parts are from it, I printed the silver and black parts on the MK2S while I waited on the MK3. I have 800.00 in the kit, plus about 160.00 in the rods and bearings. I would take $1200.00 plus shipping. Also the extruder assembly I printed in Carbon Fiber PETG because I was not happy with the factory parts. I have the original rods and bearings as well. Machine has about 140 hours of print time on it. All PLA on the MK3. I built it as well as humanly possible, used loctite on all the frame , used cable sleeves on all the wired under the bed that are not in spiral wraps etc.... I did all I could do to make the machine perfect.

I might be interested in buying a second MK3, but not at a markup. Sorry, from your other post I got the impression you might be willing to sell it cheap because you thought it was junk. My misunderstanding.

Re: This is so awesome!

No worries- I would not take less for it than what I have in it of course. But I know what you mean. Before I did that I would just return it - which I still may unless it drastically improves.

Re: This is so awesome!

I am in total agreement with the original poster! The MK3 is amazing! I am continually blown away by it! Most my prints are either more function over beauty, but even then they look better than any print I ever got off my previous machines.

Even at .30mm layer heights in PETG, it is amazing! I run it as fast as possible, I am inpatient. It has produced large fill areas at .30mm height, and near 150mm/sec, before it began to out run the extruders ability to produce heat.

Prusa Research's involvement, and willingness to continue to tune, and tweak is fantastic. My Maker Select V2 didn't get a single support upgrade, or tweak, and if I updated the firmware, the warranty was voided. It required tons of maintenance, and required lots of upgrades. Fans burned out in the first month. Luckily the Melzi burned up before the warranty was up and I got a refund, after 2 months running around on an RMA.

All my interactions with Prusa support have been great. Quick responses, 24hrs a day it seems. Yes, I did get Stainless rods, instead of hardened rods. But all it took was a 15 second video of a magnet falling off the rods, and new rods are on the way. FYI - my kit was in the first round, I ordered a MK2S the day before the MK3 was announced, and changed my order the next day. So glad I did, it was worth the wait!

Thank You Prusa Team!
