shifting on same layer

Hi everyone,

I've just received a new MK3 with steel bed sheet. I had several problems about first layer sticking and I was able to solve them definetely only putting a vertex sheet on steel sheet. Anyway the biggest problem is this layer shifting showed in photo. It seems it's always the same layer every object I print. I've checked all screws and they are perfectly tighten, so what can I check more?
thanks

Re: shifting on same layer

have you observed what is actually happening a this height? is the printer re-homing? Is anything binding?

Re: shifting on same layer

If you guys aren't observing this when it happens, there's a very real chance this could be crash detection triggering a rehome and the printer not quite recovering. Try this with crash detection and filament sensor off and see if you still have the issues.

Re: shifting on same layer

It happens in normal mode as well as in stealth mode, its not crash detection, it doesnt rehome, its always on the same height.
not a slicer issue cause it happens with slic3er and s3d.
Printing via SD card, also replaced the original with a brand new SD card, still happening.
It's also happening on different firmwares.
Also tried different Filaments.

If the problem is repeated at each print, you should search the error on any of the Z components.
Common mistakes are that the Z-screw covers are too tight, the Trapezoid nut is too tight or the Linear bearing or the Smooth rods are defective.
I do not think the problem is software related.

I completely rebuilt the Z-Axis, and still the Problem is present

Re: shifting on same layer

At what level does the problem arise?
Is it when the printout changes from Solid bottom layer to Infill? What values do you have on Perimeters, Top and Bottom layers?

Re: shifting on same layer

So I was wrong, completely.
I switched to 3.1.1, and did some other changes to the Printer (replacing bearings etc.) that's where I started noticing the problems.
I then flashed to 3.1.2 and the problems were the same. so i reverted all mods, rebuilt z-axis, optimized the filament path from outside my enclosure. nothing worked. Finally I switched back to Changes in 3.1.1 b138 RC3.

My "layershift" occurs at the height where it goes to only perimeters / walls

Re: shifting on same layer

are you sure its layer shift and not where the solid infill (Bottom layers) finishes?

Try printing it with no bottom layers so its hollow maybe,

we have been chatting on a thread where that is happening on a benchy, its seems a common problem due to over extrusion on solid infill
