Raspberry Pi zero W - Cam capabilities

Hi Guys,

now that the firmware is ready for the Pi - I wonder how well the Pi Zero does perform in regards to performance of the camera functions (overlooking a print and creating timelapses)!

Any first hand feedback will be greatly appreciated!

Regards

Re: Raspberry Pi zero W - Cam capabilities

Wondering the same thing, I had a Zero W setup with Motion, motion detection. It lasted about a month, that was it being on 24/7. Eventually the camera connector failed. It may have failed due to the case it was in but the camera connector is the most fragile piles of crap I have ever experienced. Prepare for a lot of people complaining about that. Once I get my headers in I will install the Pi Zero W and see, crossing my fingers that I don't have to keep getting to the Pi.

An idea for Prusa or someone else, might want to design a case that allows easy access to it.

Re: Raspberry Pi zero W - Cam capabilities

I started off with a Pi Zero and as a printer server it works pretty ok. However I never got a stable camera. It continued freezing/locking up. Then got a Pi 3 B, and although there is about a second delay on the video (same camera) it works without issues. My current printer is not a Prusa (waiting for mine mid January) so I just might move back to the Pi Zero for the much cleaner setup, but I will probably not use the camera...
