Re: Mk3 Shipping schedule on webshop coming.

Well this is bullshit. Whats the point of preordering when your gonna get it the same time as people who are just now placing their orders?

You're getting it after the person who pre-ordered it before you and before the person who ordered it after you. Whoever orders it today is getting it after you not at the same time. It's a simple queue system.

I guess we have different definitions of what a preorder is. When you pay 100% upfront the price of something it should be available on release day.

What we have here is a reservation, not a preorder. IE, you reserved a spot in a queue. The difference is for a reservation you usually only have to make a deposit.

I give you this example for the iphone 4 launch I googled explainging the difference:

Pre-Order:
You walk into the store between the 24th and the 1st of July and walk out with an iPhone 4.

Reserved:
You stand in line after all the pre-order people have gotten their iPhones (or if they don't show up, their phone is held for 7 days) and any extra phones are given to you, in a first come, first serve of the people who reserved. You are not guaranteed to get one.

I would agree with you accept that Prusa is not Apple. You may need to give them a few more years to get the difference between Pre-order and Reserved right.

I couldn't wait that long to get mine so I kept my MK3 order but on Monday ordered an MK2 with free shipping. It will be here in a few days.

You won't regret it. the Mk2S is an awesome device, and later on you'll have the option to upgrade it to v2.5 when the kits start shipping. I'm a little disappointed that I missed the first batch of the Mk3's but it's not stopping me enjoying my Mk2S in the slightest.

Re: Mk3 Shipping schedule on webshop coming.

I purchased my Mk3 kit on September 24th but Prusa is saying I purchased on September 25th. I have confirmation emails dated Sepember 24th and they took my money via PayPal on September 24th. The one day error on their part will delay my shipping date by more than two weeks according to their schedule and now on top of that error is the substitution of the print surface that was a big selling point for me. It seems this company can not get anything right. I must admit I was warned about Prusa's history of not meeting their commitments, I guess I am the only one too be blamed for not heeding the warnings I received.

What part of the world were you on when you purchased your printer on 9/24? Perhaps with the time zone difference it was the 25th in Prague.

Re: Mk3 Shipping schedule on webshop coming.

The ethical is in the making you pay for something that you have technically (and contractually) paid for or expecting you to suck up another 2 month delay and the end of January is no guarantee just an expectation, so this could be multi material all over again. This I could accept except for one thing - the money isn't in my account, the contract was legally established when the money left my account, that imparts certain obligations on the seller here in the EU.

I've no issue with the offer beyond that, we all know that issues occur, this is accepted, there is nothing to stop them shipping the order as described with the alternative and then shipping the 'correct' item as and when available, charging for this though is problematic, add this to holding to ransom without a guarantee if you don't accept the change to the contract terms I don't find ethical at all.

They'll still send you exactly what they are "contractually obligated" (you should read that contract again by the way) to send you. Just let them know that you want to wait until it's ready, which you had already agreed to in your initial "contract" anyway, as there certainly was no guaranteed date. They just (I think rightfully) assumed that most people would be happy to get it sooner with the PEI plate, and get the other plate when it is available, so they made that the default option.

Would you still claim they breached this "contract" if they just flat out said that it would ship at the end of January with the other plate? I'd bet a majority of customers would then be asking them to ship it sooner with a PEI plate. We're all anxiously awaiting our printers (I ordered October 25th), but there's no need to whine about the timeline not being perfect. If this is your first Prusa purchase, just know that this is not a new thing. They aren't a huge company, it's basically some hobbyists like the rest of us who started selling a product. I think most of us like the fact that we are getting this from fellow hobbyists instead of a huge company of people who aren't interested in the product. If you didn't know any of this before you made your purchase, maybe you should do a little more research before you send someone ~$800 next time. If you want everything to be "perfect", go buy an Ultimaker.

Re: Mk3 Shipping schedule on webshop coming.

I don't feel the PEI sticker is an awful alternative. The difference is the how it is stuck. It's still the same material. One is powder coated the other is 3M glued.

I'm glad I have the ability to flex the sheet and remove my print without using some tool that is going to ruin the surface. Is it what I ordered, no! Is it a bad alternate, I still have to say no! Just sayin'... 🙂

It'll be interesting to see how the glued sheet version copes with the flexing. Also how close the thickness difference will be as well, will it need the Z offset changing each time you swap to a different build plate type.

Personally, I'll accept the offered replacement version purely to avoid extending the delay by another 2 months or so but the $10 discount seems a bit lame regardless considering shipping still needs adding on. Chuck in some free shipping and it'd feel like less of an aftersales upsell and more like a genuine apology. Keep the T-shirt, I can't print on it 😀

They do say that there will be local shipping options soon for the build plates at least, so I'm hoping the shipping won't be too terrible. Fulfilled by Amazon maybe? Free prime shipping would be nice!

"contractually obligated" (you should read that contract again by the way)

I suggest you go and study EU consumer legislation

Maybe they changed the blog post later, but now I read this on https://www.prusaprinters.org/mk3-is-shipping/ :

The sheets are considered consumables but we are offering the $10 voucher for textured powder coated steel sheet to everyone who receives the printer with smooth PEI “sticker” sheet and free shipping with it. We want you guys to be happy. We are also working on ways to provide special affordable shipping for sheets on every continent.

They say in the same paragraph "free shipping" and "special affordable shipping". "free" is usually "especially affordable", but I guess this is not what they meant.

Re: Mk3 Shipping schedule on webshop coming.

My comment wasn't from the blog post. When the info was released originally in the web shop there was no mention of free shipping.
That has only been added since the complaints on the forums over the last day and has since been updated following tonight's blog post.

It's not an err on their part, it's your lack of understanding how computer dating works. Your order was placed at Prusa Research which I'm certain you're aware is located in Prague. The timestamp on your order is Prusa's local time. However your email's are timestamped to YOUR local time (or whatever you've set your time zone on your computer/tablet/etc). Your bank also records the time of the transaction and presents it to you local time. So nothing is wrong here, just subtract how many hours your timezone is behind Prague.

I think what they mean is this:

"The sheets are considered consumables but we are offering the $10 voucher for textured powder coated steel sheet to everyone who receives the printer with smooth PEI “sticker” sheet and free shipping with it."

If you got the MK3 with the sticker sheet you get the $10 voucher for textured sheet and shipping is free.

"We want you guys to be happy. We are also working on ways to provide special affordable shipping for sheets on every continent."

They are looking into resellers for folks that are NOT on the same continent as Prusa to be able to get other types or more sheets, if I had to buy them from Prusa the sheet would cost me $25 and at least $28 for shipping, so a new Sheet would cost me at least $53.
If I buy from someone in the USA shipping would be $5 to $8 bucks at the most. (would be great if it was Amazon Prime.... free shipping.)

If the powder coated spring steel sheets weren't send free (read Joes latest blog post) for people receiving a sticky PEI sheet sheet, I would start an "Sammelbestellung" here in Germany. By the way - any one from the region around Cologne here?:-)

Re: Mk3 Shipping schedule on webshop coming.
