Mk3 Shipping schedule on webshop coming.

Spoke with costumer support today and in essence what they told me that they are listening to the anxiety on the forums and are preparing something that might help the situation:

[11:59:58 AM] Support: We are preparing a shipping table with estimations for MK3 and will be post in the e-shop during end of this week or beginning of next one.

It'll be ordered by initial order date and should state when you can expect your Mk3 to ship out. No word on assembled printers, so mainly aimed at kits.

Don't let your head explode now, we'll all get our printers in due time 😉

That's great. Been checking on there regularly to see if they had gotten one up.

This will put a lot of minds at rest. Better knowing than wondering, even if it's later that what you'd hoped. 🙂

Re: Mk3 Shipping schedule on webshop coming.

I ordered 10/14/2017. Was told it would ship in early December by customer service.
Now the estimate is saying Jan 8 for my group, BUT..... if I want what I ordered, the spring steel powder coated sheet...gotta wait until the end of January...

Of course, I can accept the sticker, and then pay another $20 ($10 discount from $29) for the powder coated sheet later, whenever they decide to start selling those separately.

This does not please me, being forced into that choice... but I guess it is what it is, and there's no turning back. Now I'm conflicted... 😳

Please note we're currently shipping all orders with smooth PEI "sticker" spring steel sheet (the same surface as MK2 is using). If you want to receive your printer with textured powder-coated spring steel sheet, please contact us and we'll hold your order until late January 2018 when they're expected to be available. Sheets will be available to order separately for $24.99 (glossy and textured powder coated) or $29.99 (smooth PEI "sticker") in January and you will get $10 discount. We expect to have local shipping options by that time in the USA.

Re: Mk3 Shipping schedule on webshop coming.

That chart seems to indicate launch day purchases will ship “from November 29”

Can anyone offer more clairity? Trying hard not to add to the pile of queries they are sure to be getting, particularly currently!

That is still a indeteminant date isn’t it?

Very early September 23rd MK3 kit order , within the hour of anouncment.

Trying to be as patient as I am able, no email confirmation yet...

Unethical if you ask me, why can't they ship the order then ship the correct part when it is available - you have paid for it after all.

Too many will simply roll over and accept this though I fear.

Well this is bullshit. Whats the point of preordering when your gonna get it the same time as people who are just now placing their orders?

Re: Mk3 Shipping schedule on webshop coming.

I am also excited to see some sort of official announcement on delivery times. It is very disappointing to see that I missed the order by 4 days in order to have it before the holiday 😕 . I was really hoping to spend my holiday vacation getting to know my machine. Even more disappointing than being a few days late is (if the table is accurate for the next few months) the fact that customers that ordered 60 days after I did will only have to wait an extra 30 days 😳 .

All in all I am happy to see news with information 😀 . I only wish I could have my machine for holidays when I will be home and have time to take special care on assembly and testing. 😀

Hopefully prusa will surprise me 😉 . that would be a great gift 😉 . Otherwise ordering it today would practically be the same as when I ordered it 6 weeks ago!

Because you cant use the printer without a build plate? I'd be more pissed if they sent the printer without any kind of build plate. It would be useless until January.

Now I get $10 off of a part I was going to buy anyway, and I don't have to wait until January to use it. Always got to look for the bright side.

You do have options

- Cancel or your order and get your money back
- Message them and tell them to hold off shipping until the initial steel sheet is available
- Use the Smooth Sheet and order a PC sheet later and use both depending on which one would work best for a specific print job.

Unethical would be not allowing you any of those options.

You are expecting them to ship without a build plate? Not very useful.

I don't think of it as rolling over at all. I'm not clear on the advantage of the powder-coat. I'm interested in the flexible steel plate, but all the advantages for me come from the flex and removability, not from the powder-coat.

I think they had a perfectly valid option that would meet your ethical requirements: slip delivery until January when the plates are ready, and apologize that unexpected production issues came up.

Instead what they are doing is offering exactly that option (wait until the build plate is available) to every customer. However, if customers are in a hurry and don't care (or would actually prefer a standard 'smooth' PEI sheet), they are giving the option to get their printer earlier, and throwing in a t-shirt and $10 discount on a second plate (which I likely would have ordered anyway) by way of apology.

I do not see any ethical issues in what they are doing.

You're getting it after the person who pre-ordered it before you and before the person who ordered it after you. Whoever orders it today is getting it after you not at the same time. It's a simple queue system.

Re: Mk3 Shipping schedule on webshop coming.

Not what I was hoping for and certainly 6 weeks off of what I was told in chat prior to placing the order but am at least grateful to get a shipping schedule that I hope has been padded enough for me to be elated when(insert wish here) my order ships early... I'm guessing someone had a pretty good idea about realistic shipping dates for at least a month and it would have been nice to have had that information passed on to me/us. What's the critical path when manufacturing 3D printers anyway? I'm in manufacturing and if I were six weeks off on a delivery I'd be looking at back charges/liquidated damages and would have one or more expediters camped out in my office. With that being said, I've been on the late side of an order more times than I care to admit so I know that all of the bi!#$ing in the world won't change a thing. If you're unhappy you pretty much only have two choices, suck it up and wait or pull the order...

Re: Mk3 Shipping schedule on webshop coming.

The ethical is in the making you pay for something that you have technically (and contractually) paid for or expecting you to suck up another 2 month delay and the end of January is no guarantee just an expectation, so this could be multi material all over again. This I could accept except for one thing - the money isn't in my account, the contract was legally established when the money left my account, that imparts certain obligations on the seller here in the EU.

I've no issue with the offer beyond that, we all know that issues occur, this is accepted, there is nothing to stop them shipping the order as described with the alternative and then shipping the 'correct' item as and when available, charging for this though is problematic, add this to holding to ransom without a guarantee if you don't accept the change to the contract terms I don't find ethical at all.

Ah, I get it. In my case, there was no contractual guarantee of a delivery date. There was a pretty clear statement of "hoping to ship in late November", with a clear understanding by me that that was not guaranteed.

If their communication to you was that yours was definitely going to ship in November, or they told you that you would not be charged until it shipped, you definitely have a valid reason to complain. I would suggest cancelling and doing business with a different company. You have a written contract that says November, and while they are willing to ship exactly what you asked for in January, that is several months later than their written guarantee.

In my case, I got no such guarantee. I knew they would charge when the order was placed, and they did not give me a guaranteed shipping date. I therefore am quite pleased to be getting mine sooner.

Re: Mk3 Shipping schedule on webshop coming.

I don't feel the PEI sticker is an awful alternative. The difference is the how it is stuck. It's still the same material. One is powder coated the other is 3M glued.

I'm glad I have the ability to flex the sheet and remove my print without using some tool that is going to ruin the surface. Is it what I ordered, no! Is it a bad alternate, I still have to say no! Just sayin'... 🙂

It'll be interesting to see how the glued sheet version copes with the flexing. Also how close the thickness difference will be as well, will it need the Z offset changing each time you swap to a different build plate type.

Personally, I'll accept the offered replacement version purely to avoid extending the delay by another 2 months or so but the $10 discount seems a bit lame regardless considering shipping still needs adding on. Chuck in some free shipping and it'd feel like less of an aftersales upsell and more like a genuine apology. Keep the T-shirt, I can't print on it 😀
